Game Not Starting

Post by Kabooj »

Ok So I bought the game for steam sales, and played it for about an hour. I decided to try out some mods (The extended version and WH40K). Then when I tried to change the theme back the the default, there was an error (I can't remember now) and now I can't start the game? The launcher launches, but whenever I press Play Distant Worlds, nothing happens!

I've reinstalled the game, verified cache, installed everything in the redist file (everything is up todate), my IE and WMP is enabled, I don't know what the problem is?

Thanks in advance for the help!

EDIT: My PC is running on Windows 8.1 Pro

I5 4690k
R9 280
8GB RAM

I have two monitors

Did you mess with files outside the customization folder? That could mess up changing back. If so a steam integrity check should cure it.

If it is a mod problem, deleting defaultoptions should reset you back to the default theme. Buggy mods can prevent you from launching.

defaultoptions and crash dumps are both located in "My Games"/"Distant Worlds Universe" inside your Documents folder.

No I didn't mess with anything outside customization, and I verified (say's everything is fine). I've deleted both defaultoptions and Crash dumps and still nothing, but this shows up on the new crash dump

EDIT: NVM fixed it, I accidentally must have unzipped the patch for a mod into the game folder, and veryfying didn't do anything because they were technically the same files/additional files.

I am glad to see you figure it out. The mention of that mod race was a good indicator that something like that had happened :)
