Howie, Mark update this scenario on the latest public release candidate version. Download the latest Command v1.08 Release Candidate 6 (Build 678.15), install it and try this scenario again.

This is a really good scenario/tutorial. Lots going on and tons of action.

Really nice scenario ! Juste finished it, really enjoyed it.

I was not able to find any sub, but had a good time hunting those soviet ships :)
