Wir 3.3 1941 PBEM

Post by matt.buttsworth »

A friend cannot get a Wir 3.3 1941 PBEM to start even though a PBEM game with 1942.
Any ideas? Sorry if this has already been discussed before.

WIR 3.3 PBEM Campaign 41

Post by MikeB »

Matt.
tsk tsk. It was you who emailed me your copy of WIR 3.3 such that it would work on my machine.

I believe Ricky B had confirmed that it was due to the need for a sub-directory in the new WIR 3.3 folder/directory. I think it had something to do with new or old icons...perhaps from WIR 3.2 ?

Email your version to "friend" and your friend should be ok. I was
...and thanks.

I forgot. The problem is one of using editwir to load data file obwir (scenario file 1941), store it and then quit.
After that you can get a 1941 game going okay.
I hope that helps anyone else who has that problem. I can supply details of exactly how to do it if people cannot run editwir.

Yeah there are still weird things that go on though:

My current opponent could not get the game to work with him as Soviet vs me! Even after doing the above with editor; whenever we started and I sent him the first turn it would always ask for my password and not his password! Whenever I tried to open his turn it worked fine and asked for his password. I also sent the file to another current opponent (techex) and it worked fine! Guess its just one of those conflict things..............

Interesting idea. Not sure if we tried that one, think we may have. I'll investigate.
