Thankfully, the "Battling Bastards of Batavia" have been a thorn in John's side in his conquest of Java. Right now, troops, supplies, planes, and fuel are headed for western Australia. The 40th & 41st ID were prepping for India, but that has been stopped and I have troops prepping for Carnarvon, Exmouth, and Port Hedland. I hope to set up a series of bases here to slow down John and hope to use them later as a jumping off point in 43. However, once Pearl is captured, I can see John throwing everything over here. I have to be ready.

Hawaii - the "Thundering Herd" gets thinned out quickly, but mainly from surface combat vs air strikes. The way I've learned to use the AI to your advantage is to form TFs in order of least value to highest value as the AI will move the lowest numbered TF first. In this case, the PT TFs were formed first, then the slowest ships in single ship TF. Lots of transports and support ships were sunk by his BBs & BCs, but then the DM, DMS, APDs, DD, and 2 CLs were able to run at Full Speed almost due east.

I have done that too, inadvertently, since the first TF I create is always a minesweeper TF and the engine seems to always pick the lowest TF Number available when assigning new numbers.

Garrison will need to be two to three whole divisions, BFs, Air HQs, and support troops plus lots of Nell/Betty and Zero air groups to be able to reach far enough out to hit any potential invasion TFs that may or may not ever come. For Japanese players like Lowpe, is that a cost you would be willing to pay in a PBEM game?? The cost to me besides all of my old BBs stationed there and some other ships is pushing me outside my comfort zone of having Pearl as a hub. He will get most of the fuel (500,000). However, I will have the use of two divisions (24 & 25) by end of '42 or early 43 that will be rebuilt with minimal PP cost, all those support troops that are usually in Pearl or Hawaii as garrison.

OK, once again. There are NO increases to IJA in troops or aircraft. This mod, BTS lite, like BTS, RA, and Treaty are mainly IJN changes with a few Allied. These mod are based on DBB-C which has the 1/3 reduction in cargo capacity across the board. So, the Allies have the same issue when it comes to cargo capacity. For IJN, the "Assault Division" is really three SNLFs combined. They are truly a fragile brigade. The Japanese Navy is better able to last longer with this mod as it combines Treaty with RA. You can read John's AAR or the thread in Mod Section for details on the changes which are minor when it comes to LCUs.

My understanding is that Chinese TOE starts at or around 100% where it is 60% in stock. There are serious reductions to ENG abilities, air support, etc that come with DBB which is integrated into this Mod

I'm not 100% sure, but I doubt that DBB did little to increase to Japanese AV at all. This particular mod combines a few units into bigger units such as the Assault Divs, but they are fragile as heck. In my game I've counted on them to be better than they actually are. This mod does allow for Torpedo strikes in port. That's somewhat major.

500,000 fuel is big. Regardless of the strategic value of Pearl, that by itself makes it worth it.

Lowpe, not try to get on your case as I know there are few players with a good understanding of this mod unless you are playing it. It helps that I've assisted John in its development, but he did the heavy lifting. The troops come from Scen 1, so no extras. Industry reflects an expansion of IJN and includes less fuel at start (about 500k). John knows more about the industry changes for Japan.

Vic - John cranked up the garrison numbers for both sides in China. He wanted to make it less active. The at start disablement for China is same. I increased device production for them from 33% to 50% to try to give them some better combat power. Torpedo strikes on ports is not a mod change, but WAD.

500K oil will fuel the ships...I bet it is a wash given all the shipping activity past, present and future. I think you can afford to run the KB maybe 12 days a month, if that, in a scenario 1 game.

It is a lot to bite off in a scen 1 environment, and tougher China.

But it is fun to watch!
