Inf V Cav in woods

Forum dedicated to the Scourge of War Game set during the Napoleonic Wars. Scourge of War: Waterloo follows in the footsteps of its American Civil War predecessors and takes the action to one of the most famous battles in history. Inf V Cav in woods

Post by ulsterandy »

If Inf is in woods does it null in void cav charges? As cav in woods would find it very hard to charge in woods? as i am am Horse rider myself i can say it is very hard to ride in woods at a fast pace. Thus if the Inf stay in line will they be able to shoot the cav down? or does the game not take the woods in to account? and still counts the Inf in line and breaks then?

You are right, Cavalry is not able to charge in woods.

one - I don't know the answer

two - in the wargaming rules I'm familiar with charge and melee are not the same thing. Charge is a bonus to the initial round of melee and can be huge relative to unmodified melee damage, eg lancers.

three - if woods are divided into light and dense then mounted cavalry possibly may not be allowed to move into dense woods.

four - woods would be disordering terrain for the infantry too.

Cavalry cannot charge if the ground at the moment of charge check has a height value over the 25 or a defensive bonus over the 21 (you can see these values in the maps csv of sdk)
