RE: Saved game failed to load

Post by SierraJuliet »

Ok. I get that about the new pwsdll7.dll file and see it in the tracker file.

I think I get what the two of you have said but my computing skills aren't making it happen at the moment.

I did a reinstall of tracker into a new folder on the desktop and tracker still works fine. So I think you are on the right track about the dll7 and dll files.

I think I need to sleep on it and come back to it tomorrow with a clear head.

Thanks so much for your patience and I'll let you know how I go with it tomorrow.

Regards

Oh. Just realized that I had not been clear about the tracker. I've not had it working with the game until today. So we have been playing the game for 97 turns and today was the first time I got tracker to work.

Not sure if that helps but it may clear up any misconception that I had the old version of tracker working with the game.

Good news gentlemen.

I turned the computer off and then back on before I retired for the day... just in the hope that something may have sorted itself out.

I don't profess to know a great deal about the working on the inside of these machines but you obviously steered me in the right direction as I now have access to the game file and tracker appears to be happy too.

If you don't see me back on this thread in the next day or two all is good in my little world.

Thanks so much.

Is Java installed on this new PC?
Delete the trackerdb.* files.
Copy the pwsdll.dll file from the game folder to the WitPTracker folder.
Try running the WitPTracker.bat again.

Ok, I am usually pretty good at figuring out what is going on with Java and Tracker. But, I am perplexed this time.

Using Tracker 1.10, Windows 7, 16 GB Ram, Java 1.8.0_51.

Expanded my heap size numbers all the way up to Xms1280m and Xmx1536m. I have reloaded tracker, I have checked to make sure pwsdll7.dll is present. I still keep getting the following error:

Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\Test\WitP Tracker AE Release 1.10\pwsdll7.dll: Not enough storage is available to process this command

Is there something wrong with the pwsd117.dll? This happened all of the sudden yesterday after my computer rebooted during the day while I was at work. Was working fine up to that point, the night before, without issue.

Any more information needed?

I can't seem to find any definitive reason. Can you try with the nomap option and see if that makes a difference?

Same error. Tried that also as part of my exploration of the issue.

Hi, Tracker Users --

When opening a new game using Da Babes version C, I got the following error which I have never seen before:

Image

Any thoughts about what is going on? The most obvious thing I could think of was a misdirected path to the WitP exe, but the path looks ok to me. So what else would produce this kind of error?

Thanks for the help!

EDIT: I have some more information. I created a fresh game folder with Tracker in it and ran Tracker using a vanilla scenario. Everything went ok, so clearly there are no pathing problems. Then I installed the Da Babes C version and the extended map files into the game folder, played the first turn and saved it, and then tried to open Tracker. Same error as above. Has anyone else had problems running Tracker with Da Babes C? I can't imagine what the problem is, especially since I had previously run Da Iron Babes vs. the AI with no problem, extended map and everything.

It's probably my mistake. Can you send me the xoperationsreport.txt file being loaded for the turn (to witptracker@gmail.com)?

Hi, Floyd -

Thanks for the reply. Can you please specify further which file you want me to send? Do you want a txt version of what you see when Tracker starts up? Where would I find that? I looked in the Java folder and didn't see anything likely there.

If you are playing Allies, the aoperationsreport.txt file (joperationsreport.txt for Japan) in the game's SAVE folder for the turn you're loading. This is the file WitPTracker is trying to load and it appears I was not parsing it correctly.

Ah, ok. Sent.

BTW, why should a parsing problem like this this only come up in Da Babes C?

Was working fine up to that point, the night before, without issue. And, Xms is not your heap size, it is the starting RAM requirement. Xmx is the maximum RAM it will use.
Heap memory is different.

When I have had this error, I rebooted my computer and then loaded tracker first with no other program running and it seemed to work fine. I think that memory gets fragmented and it can't get the memory it needs.

Tried that, same results, something in the pwsdll7.dll is screwing it up. The Resource monitor for my PC shows almost 8 GB of memory free, even with the nearly 1.5 reserved for tracker.

I never set the values higher than 768. A few years ago I found that higher values did not work.
The reason may have been, that java is a 32bit application. That limits the usable user memory to 2GB (3GB if a special flag in the java.exe file is set (which isn't if not done by yourself).
These years ago I reasoned that starting up Tracker does not only demand 768 MB as allocated memory but more (factor 2?).
Your values - when doubled - are above 2GB and even 3GB.
Try xms512m and xmx768m and the nomap switch.
With xms384m and xmx768m and no nomap switch I am now at 219 turns.

Will try that again when I get home, but I believe that is where I started from when increasing.

Maybe it is a 32bit vs. 64bit thing?
