TOE + Lancer's Enhanced Mod Suite

Post by gwgardner »

I have experimented with adding TOE and auto-reinforce to a scenario created with Lancer's Enhanced Mod Suite.

As far as I can tell so far, everything is working well except I have no Nato 1 and 2 symbols available on the TOE creation window. Anyone have an idea why and how to fix?

Yeah, I do...

It is something to do with not having any Nato symbols in the SystemGfx Overrule of the scenario. You can get around this in several ways... One is (that I have not experimented with) is setting it to newdawnmodgraphics. Another is to copy the nato symbols from the newdawnmodgraphics natosymbols directory (both BIG and SMALL as well as normal) to another named directory set (BIG, SMALL and normal names) named whatever you like...

Example:

LancersTOE
LancersTOESMALL
LancersTOEBIG

Good luck :)

@gwgardner: Let us know how it goes and details on how you did it. I love Lancer's mod. He is too busy working on DC3 to update his mod at the present time.

Thanks for the help. I did create the LancersTOE subdirectories as you suggested, and changed the Overrule to that name, and it worked fine.

I got an error popup after my first turn, but continued with the game, and TOE and auto-reinforce seem to work. See the screenshot. There were actually three consecutive popups like that, but I could only capture that one. If they are significant I will try again to capture all.

Any idea what the error refers to?

I don't think these errors are serious. If memory serves correct you will only see them once. It has something to do with Lancer's mod making some kind of first turn checks. Don't think they will affect game play. If I'm not mistaken #48 refers to Event 48 and 61 to the line number of that event.

Thanks for clarifying that. I'm looking forward to seriously playing the enhanced mod, but was reluctant to do so without TOE (even as a newbie I've become spoiled by it).

I must be missing something. I'm trying to accomplish the same thing but can't get the NATO template graphics to showup. I also don't have that third item on the Show Different Marker button. It is either no counters or standard.

Probably not helpful, but

All I can think of is what ErnieSchwitz wrote concerning the overrule setting. I chose the method of creating a LancersTOE set of folders in the graphics folder, as in the screenshot. Then copied the appropriate natocounters folders from the newdawnmodgraphics folders:

I've done those things. If you have a working copy can you email it to me at (removed)? Trying to update Lacner's mod to v2.21g is no simple matter. Even if you succeed in getting TO&E to work with it, any bug fixes/changes in the anewdawn3.at2 file will not be in Lancer's at2 file.

Edit: I've come to the conclusion it will take someone (Lancer) with much more knowledge of the inter-working of this mod to bring it up to speed with v2.21g. It is beyond my capability. I may get TO&E working with Lancer's v2.15 based mod but I cannot bring the mod up to v2.21g.

EDIT NOTES:
1) further testing on my PC has indicated there are additional issues. The three error messages are reappearing and the mod is not accurately reporting number of HQs and officers.
2) reworked the 1enhanced.at2 file and no longer get the error messages. The mod is still over counting HQs and Officers. The TO&E feature appears to be working correctly but suspect something about the new v2.21g AdvancedTactics.exe file is messing with the mod that was designed using v2.15.
3) further tests seem to indicate this over counting issue might possibly be related to applying an HQ TO&E template to your headquarter units. If true this would likely indicate that applying a template is perhaps modifying the internal identifier of unit that is being used by Lancer's mod to track/count them.
I believe I have TO&E working with Lancer's v2.15 Enhanced Mod. To try it out, do the following:

1) Install Lancer's Mod: http://advancedtactics.org/upload3/Enha ... 215e.atzip
2) Download my mod of his at2 file: http://rtworks.org/GameStuff/1enhanced.at2 and place in your atgoldscenarios folder.
3) Copy the NATO counters in the graphics\newdawnmodgraphics folders to the corresponding locations in the graphics\modgraphics folders
4) If you want a start menu item to launch, place the attached enhanced.txt file in your mods folder. Otherwise launch it manually.

NOTES:

1) Import or create your first unit template as the first item of business of your first turn. It seems if you start doing other things first, then the template panel will fail to work for some reason.

2) During the first turn you may encounter a short series of error messages. Simply click through them and the game will continue and the error messages will not appear again. The game should function normally thereafter.
