Finally got it working - every time I "assigned" a crew it told me I had crew positions unfilled !

Worked out I had to create a crew first then assign it (D'oh!).

I ran a campaign for a Lancaster S-Sugar. Second mission my pilot was KIA by a passing ME110. New ppilot and the aircraft made 2 more missions before being shot down - another straffing ME110 detonated the bombs[X(]

Pity they never finished development of the game - could have beenb brilliant.

Once again thanks Wodin for this rare find.

I wish someone would make a Luftschiff emulator, maybe I'd finally be able to play that thing.

I have been playing this emulator for a few years now, and it does a really good job. Highly recommended!

I played this as a boardgame back in hs/college, glad someone did a computer version of it. I wish someone would do an update of B17 Flying Fortress from Microprose but I think flight sims have fallen out of favor for 1st person types [:(]

My first go around the Picadilly Pirate lasted all of 2 missions when she blew up in sky. Picadilly Pirate II is to 11th w/ most of crew - radiomen seem to not last very long on the PPII [:'(]

If you are interested, check out Stuka Joe's video game plays of the boardgame. They are quite entertaining....

Not really. Sims are doing as well as Wargames. From what I have heard, DCS series are very sophisticated. DCS A-10C has a ~700 page manual.
Rise of Flight is apparently a great WWI sim.

The main problem is that most of modern sims come with online DRM.

I have played Rise of Flight since it started. It is a good WWI flying Sim. A pricey game if you are interested in purchasing a lot of planes as you pay per plane. It will provide many hours of enjoyment though.

I enjoyed watching these, I've made it through about 6 of them so far. Quite a testament to what can be accomplished to make a solitaire boardgame interesting for everyone.

History began July 4th, 1776. Anything before that was a mistake.

Anyone fancies this see link below. Also if you search the net you will find groups who use it to fly campaigns. Boardgame not needed.

Work no longer carried on with it sadly.

Going to give this a try when I get home tonight. I have the board game. I was in my local gameshop yesterday and they had a "gently used" copy listed for $70. I was kind of surprised.

I had this on my computer for several years, but following a hard drive meltdown, I've lost it. Any chance you could send me a link for it, please?

I don’t know about this “PC emulator” but the board game is a classic, I still have my copy I was given as a kid by one of the co-designers Charles Proseks………I don’t recall ever getting to 25 missions but iirc I got to the 20th mission once before she went down with her crew . but honestly by then I don’t think there was much of the original crew left………… [:(]

I’ll bet I have “windycitys” mission logs still in the box ..............[:D]

1st mission complete for B-17G Los Pusi.

Mission to Karlsruhe, middle formation of the middle squadron.

Hit by friendly fire then intercom knocked out by German fighters.

Flak destroyed engine #4, continued with the mission.

More flak inflicted superficial damage to the radio room, nose and tailplane, but the bomber dropped its bombs with accuracy.

Returned to base and landed successfully. No kills recorded.

Will keep going to see how Los Pusi fares...

Cheers,
