Make sure you don't land that division on an enemy beach without prep [;)]. If you keep the Chungking prep target, then land it at a base you've already taken.

Now, I have been told that I don't need prep during the amphibious bonus.[;)]

Anyhow, I will fast transport in some boots on the ground and land following anyhow. Or grab it with paratroops.

All that I know is that it increases the offload rate... allows your xAK's to offload like they are AK's or even AKA's for a few months. Can't say that I have seen it do anything else.

You will take losses on landing, but its probably worth it for the surprise element.

Allied players forget that we can fool SIGNIT

This will be a fun AAR to check in on-- Maybe you could provide a little more backstory on how Pearl Harbor and all was taken? That's quite a rare achievement and the Allies are really hamstrung now. How is the Allied morale, does he plan on continuing? Seems like it could be difficult to muster up anything better than a draw for the Allies.

Perhaps its time to sack Vancouver, or Seattle maybe? :)

Check the link on the first post to Olorin's AAR...a great read for all the back story.

Another day down, and a lot of task forces are heading towards Victoria Island. A few small Allied task forces spotted at Victoria itself no doubt small yard patrol and or KVs. All the local Iboats are not detected.

Task forces are leaving from Honshu & Pearl.

Over at Luzon, task forces are loading for the invasion at San Fernado (preferred). Jocke has float plane search up so I will oblige him and let them start gathering just offshore. He may try the trick of switching them to naval attack.

Timor invaded with no losses, not even spotted. Jocke has bailed in the lower SRA. Troops assembling to take Soerabaja.

In thinking things forward you need to plan for success, or be two steps behind. So, a successful Canada operation will empower Jocke to strike at Sumatra. Burma will be a slog thru hard terrain; the lower SRA are very hard to develop up; but a strike at Sumatra will pose a threat to the Empire in Jockes eyes...so I will start preparing for that now & I will have a long time to beef up the defenses.

While he is busy at Sumatra, depending upon the date, Japan might be landing in the west coast. Wouldn't that be a hoot? Oh, what tangled webs we weave.[:)]

In China Tuyun has troops, so it looks like Chikiang is the lone deserted base. Still two more cities in the Changsha plains to scout though. Paratroopers east of Cam Ranh Bay.

I just had a contested landing with 25 AV and suffered no disruption or losses or disablements.

Now, it wasn't much of a contested landing -- 300 Dutch troops.[:)] And they were fast transported in, not amphibiously landed.

Another uncontested landing at Dili suffered nothing to.

Both landings had 0 prep, well prep for other bases.

One last thing to note: this operation in Canada is all or nothing. It will be a huge supply drain. Can't stress that enough. It will also mean very high production of early planes.

It is definitely not for the feint of heart.

Incrementally, how much more expensive is this than say invading Oz? More, simply because the air war will never end.

The Honshu-Victoria island SLOC is only slightly longer than the Soerebaja-Perth SLOC or the Balikpapan-Townsville SLOC.

Supply expenditure would be less in Canada I think, because:
a. You would/should have an air war in Oz too if you went there.
b. Only the 14th Army plus SNFL paras -about 3 division equivalents- will be committed in Canada (unless your plan is to bring more units than I was planning), whereas in Oz the army would be much bigger and in full contact with the enemy.

There isn't much difference I believe, but unless someone makes a proper analysis we won't know for sure.

Regarding KB, I was thinking of redeploying it to Singapore, immediately after the Victoria landing. Mini KB+Umnak is strong enough to defend the Honshu-Victoria SLOC. I happen to share your worry about the SRA being counterinvaded, so plan accordingly. He will need carriers to invade there.

I do not urge you to do a particular course of action, just offering my limited perspective as the former Japanese CinC[;)]

It will take Jocke 6-9 months to prepare for Sumatra....and he will come with the kitchen sink-- it could be the decisive battle, or just delay it and attack the lower west coast which just so calls to me....[:D]

Excellent analysis. I had been thinking of raiding the lower west coast once, or twice with the KB to keep Allied fighters spread...and then back. The Junyo will get finished shortly, and will join the mini-kb.

What were your thoughts on Musashi and her sister? I have kept production on them off and I am leaning to keep it off for quite a while.

I have yet to really look for the funnies: the Iboats carrying midgets; the Iboats for minelaying; I get a lot of enjoyment out those guys. I would like to slip a midget into Sydney right now.

Your game is just so superbly organized. My hat is off.[&o]

Turn is away, and it will be a WITP AE free weekend pretty much for me. I might get the chance to update and do a turn depending upon how comatose my little soldiers are.

Guess they aren't so little anymore. The oldest enters a really tough training program; the youngest is recovering from hell week...saw his picture on the facebook page of the Commandant. He was climbing the rope on the obstacle course muscles bulging and feet locking the rope. 40 foot rappelling tower next up...oh, what fun times.

Facebook really has changed things. Not sure if it is for the better or worse. Some Mom wanted them to eat a diet of tofu & seeds. Goodness.

Cheers
The convoy system needs some tweeking and more escorts, but judging from your posts, you're already on top of it.

My ship building priorities were:
Junyo-Hiyo-Taiho accelerated first, then turn on Yamato (normal build) once the Hiyos are built, then accelerate all 6 Unryus. After that, I would decide if the Musashi was worth having in the end game. Personally, I prefer subs to transport supplies to otherwise inaccessible bases.

Definitely for the worse I think. The army is the one of the few places left untouched by the general madness. [:D]

I have seen less losses from not being prepped, but certainly not nothing. It's entirely observational on my part.

I wouldn't risk it with a division unless you know for SURE. If you suffer 1/3 disablements, that's maybe a month for it to get back up to full. That's a long time at this juncture.

Why send the division in first, if it is undefended. I will simply grab it and the land the division the following day after the base is secure.

Jocke flipped the turn, he is fast. Probably hiding. Just kidding, I know he wants to hit me and hard.[;)]

Anyhow, things moving apace. Everything moving to Victoria Island. Lead elements will land at San Fernado in Luzon tomorrow. None of the initial ships are spotted, good thing, since they are light on escorts. I wonder if he would sortie pt boats at me? Fly Cats really low? Bleed on me?

I ran a few battleships off Java today, they were spotted yesterday and 3 Dutch bombers attacked. Oscar Ic and Zeroes were there to shoot them down. I have a passionate dislike of the Ic, but the IIb Oscar really makes me sing. If it were me I would have a little more R&D there than what Olorin started with; but I will live with his choices for now.

Created a size 60 r&d facility for the Lilly IIb. This is in keeping with Olorin's preference for this size factory. I will make these puppies for the rest of the game. Well, IIb then IIc.

Timing for Luzon is good, as it will hopefully make Jocke think I am cleaning up behind the lines while we steam for Victoria. I tried ground bombing of San Fernando and it seems nobody is home. Bad news, looks to be troops in Chikiang. Oh well, too good to be true. Might divert the paratroops to take another base near San Fernando.

I need to find the funny subs; I need to grow Sally production, they will be a workhorse in Canada, and they have a tendency to die in great numbers (like every Japanese plane in my Air Force).

Dili taken, some other odds and ends around Singers, PI, etc, etc. Mavis search deep off NW Oz can't spot a thing.

Other things to do: find the training cruisers; repair a ton of ships; assemble my AMCs, have some fun somewhere.
