[TO-DO: ADVANCED STRIKE PLANNER] Hitting ambiguous targets with dumb bombs?

Post by Roadtruck »

Hi everyone,

Sorry to bother you all, but I have a question about Command (I apologise if it is stupid)...

During the scenario Hunting Day (Russia vs Georgia 2008) there are multiple MANPADS and other assorted mobile SAM following behind the target convoy. Using the Spetsnaz, a Foxbat and a Fencer E in recon load outs, it is possible to get an exact bearing and speed fix on the convoy. However, no matter how close the Spetsnaz get, I can't get a fixed location on the AA units. The position of these units constantly changes on the map and I have no bearing or speed information.

I assumed not having a fixed location meant I would not be able to target these units with the Frogfoot's iron-bombs/rockets, and I would need to hit them with Radar seeking missiles. Counter intuitively (for a person who doesn't know what they are doing) this is not the case, when I attack with the Frogfoots the munitions change direction in the air, flying like guided munitions towards their target. Can anyone explain why this is happening? It seems like it shouldn't to me...

Anyway, great game/sim, I love it so much yet I understand so little. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

You cannot attack a coordinate or area at the moment. This will be added as part of the 'Advanced Strike Planner'.

Sounds like you need to scout ahead with one unit to get a position and bomb with the other?

Keep in mind you may have to lower you altitude to get a visual etc.

Thanks!
