I'm putting the questions here because I suspect designers are more likely to have encountered (and perhaps fixed) this.
1. Has anyone else seen this effect before ? On what version of TOAW ?, which scenarios ?
2. I have a suspicion this is related to events (re-using them). Can anyone confirm that ?
3. If someone has seen and fixed this, any help is appreciated.
The screenshot is from turn 8, and I have scrolled past the correctly listed expected arrivals (in turns 9,10...) to show the errors. Except for the 2 Air units (which do withdraw on turn 13) and the auto-disband, everything on the screen is false. None of these units withdraw. Period. What's worse is that when I scroll further, the same list of errors repeats as of turn 14, (and I guess onto 15, 16, etc.) mixing in with the 3 cavalry divisions correctly arriving on turn 14. Of course, this makes this whole screen useless to the player.
I have rechecked events, and except for the air units, no units withdraw. There are triggers for _some_ but not all of those artillery formations to go into garrison mode around turn 13 (this is the 3rd step in a cycle of 4 or 5 turns each, beginning around turn 4 or 5, and continuing through the game).
This erroneous effect does not show on the other player's Expected Reinforcement screen. I have watched this since first discovering it, and the effect showed in turns 9, 10, 11, 12, 13... except on turn 13 the turn 13 'errors' disappeared, leaving a screen full of turn 14, 15... errors. The air units do withdraw as planned, and the auto-disband, auto-disbands.
Like I said, I have a hunch that this comes from TOAW not clearing events -- it only wipes the pointer to the old event. (Designers know that re-using a previously 'cleared' event means tracking down each and every link/reference to the old event, and trying to clear all of those.) AFAIK, I have cleared any old events that were re-used. And as I wrote above, this problem is only appearing under 3.4.1.9.
Any help in resolving this is appreciated.
