I still have the game on my hard drive and will fire up another PBEM game once I get some kind of regular schedule back. This could be anything up to two years from now, though. Doesn't matter, the game is great and it is staying great no matter how much time goes by.

Good timing for the question -- first time I've logged into the forums for about 5 months (due to work and other professional conflicts). Doesn't mean I stopped playing; just didn't have 3 hours a day to spend reading about The Little Ship That Could!

still playing. life (and occasionally work) get in the way, but still clicking on.

I noticed another thread about the old PacWar. does anybody remember before PacWar we had 'War in the South Pacific'? the old SSI game? the memories.....

(I think I played it on a C64? now that's going back a few years!).

I have very fond memories of Great Naval Battles, North Atlantic and Great Naval Battles 1942 which was based on the Guadalcanal campaign.

Was really great because it had a tactical simulator embedded in an operational game.

You formed TFs for resupply and surface action and then could either switch to tactical control of any gun on any ship or zoom the strategic map in to watch each individual plane swarm the targets and an air raid came in.

Bought UV, WitP and AE the day each came out. Been a wargamer since 1970. AE is the ultimate game and I see myself playing it to my dying day. I downloaded WitP while at the mob station just before shipping out. Spent a year learning that beast by myself. No access to this website and I didn't know anyone who bought it at that time. I came back and met tc464 in 2005 and we started our first PBEM. Played WitP until the vaunted patch 2 came out and started PBEM #2. Started PBEM #3 when AE came out. The Army sucked me away for half a year with no communication again and when I came back we decided to start PBEM #4, which we play to this day. Only lapses are when RL intervenes. We'll finish this one.

I did play a couple other WitP games. Speedy, faber, Bruce, Wolf….

Then there's Mogami. [:)]

Played the original DOS war in the southwest pacific and the original witp. Then played UV, WITP and now AE. I also got WPO but never played it though.
