Airbase Not Constructing

Post by LiquidSky »

I seem to have a stalled airbase construction in England. Hex 80,167. Town of Lympne. Airbase called AF Wittering.

It seemed to be stuck at Level 2: 80% to level 3 for a few turns now. Two turns ago I decided that it needed a boost, and I assigned a construction engineer directly.

Still no love. Or maybe too much love. Not enough work.

Anyways, it is a server game, the one where I am the Allied player vrs. DicedT the German player.

The airbase is also Lympne as far as I can tell and it's in hex 85,180. That's the AF with an engineer attached and with 80% construction. I ran it one more turn and it's still at 80%, so I'll log this and send it to Pavel to look into when he has a chance.

My only guess is that it's bad weather and going to level 3 is more difficult, but not going up at all is surprising. When it was building before, how much did it go up each turn and what was the weather like?

Umm...as you can see I have been building up all the airbases I can in southern England, so I am not exactly sure when I started it. Since I have over 100 admin points I would say that I did it at least 10 turns ago, if not more.

The weather has been rather bad lately, so it is quite probable that it was started during bad weather. I am not sure but I suspect the airbase started as a level 1, so I have managed to progress it to 2, and on its way to 3: 80%

I only attached the construction engineer a couple turns ago when I noticed it wasn't going up.

I will keep an eye on it to see if it suddenly starts moving, and what the weather is when/if it occurs.

I notice that the airbase at Plymouth and Bournemouth are also not progressing. It must have something to do with the weather as it has been snowing for a couple months. England is buried in sea of snow. Must make it hard for the engineers to do any thing.

If this infernal weather ever clears up...it will probably advance as usual. I've never seen so much snow.

Its a nice holiday for my strat bomber crews as they frolic with the local snow bunnies. Morale is definitely higher then I normally see.

It certainly seems that the 'random' weather for the UK in winter is much more snowy than in real life. Winters that are in reality once in 25 year events seem the norm in WitW, but I haven't noticed any problem with construction or expansion of airfields. Perhaps it depends on how many you try and do at one time?

I have unlocked the mystery as to why my airbases were not being constructed. Apparently some guy named Milo had started a company called Milo Enterprises, and had appropriated all the engineers. Their home base was in Bristol. After I cleared them out, things started building again.

Seriously though, the problem seemed to occur when Bristol filled up with American reinforcements. I guess a construction unit couldn't get into the city to build the airbase as their was already three units in the hex.

I moved the units out of the city, and attached a construction unit to Bristol...now my airbases are being built again.

Hmm...I haven't paid any attention to this poor airfield in England. It did make a jump as I said above when I moved units out of Bristol and Bristol finished its construction.

But the airfield is sitting at 2:97% and has been for quite some time now...all of 1944 to the end of September in fact.

I confess that at the moment my engineers are rather busy though, fixing up France's infrastructure. Lots of Railyards to and rail lines to fix.

EDIT: I seem to have a number of airfields not finishing. Most of which were started in 1943. A common theme amongst them is they are all level 2 trying to be level 3, and they are not connected to a rail line.

AF Horne 2: 53% (79,179)
AF Lympne 2: 97% (85,180)
AF Serragia 2: 10% (119,258)
AF Poretta 2: 19% (122,251)
AF Tuddenham 2: 54% (84, 171)

Are the ones I can find looking around Corisca and England.
