Box Upgrade Option now available on Matrix!

Post by Daniele »

If you already own a digital version of the game from our site, Steam (or anywhere else!) and would like to add a box and full colour printed manual to your collection, just click on the buy Boxed Upgrade button. You will receive a box of the product you have chosen, a printed manual in full colours and a DVD with in an interactive version of our catalogue. It is very simple and straight forward.

You don't have to register your game or send us your game serial number, just add the product to the cart and check out!

This option is currently available on a limited selection of titles:

- Gary Grigsby's War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945

- Distant Worlds: Universe

- Command: Modern Air Naval Operations Wargame of the Year Edition

We are planning to add more titles with this option so stay tuned!

Please note this is not a copy of the game and does not include a Steam code or serial. If you want to buy the game please go to the games page. This is an upgrade option for people who already own the digital game.

Please check here to upgrade your game!

BTW..., sorry if this is not right place for this question, but it seems kinda related.

At the moment if somebody buys a Matrix/Slitherine/AGEoD product in their store, they can redeem a Steam code on Steam (provided that the game is available on Steam). I was wondering why the other way round is not possible. If somebody buys a Matrix/Slitherine/AGEoD product on Steam, why can't they "redeem" their Steam purchase in the Matrix/Slitherine/AGEoD stores? IMO, it would just be fair...

Ohhh, now that is tempting. Are the manuals up to date? WitE and CMANO are definitely cases where I would benefit from having the printed manual on hand. Plus they would like neat on the bookshelf!

That's excellent! I just bought a boxed game over at Battlefromt, there was just no way, no how to get a printed manual, except what you could off the PDF manual onto your printer (to me that blows). To boot : The prices you are asking are well worth it for a printed manual with box, I'd spend more than that for a used up ink cartridge and a package of print paper trying to do the same thing, or go to a print store.

On the Steam users registering with us, we are starting to implement a way to register back here but it cant be retrofitted to older games. Going forwards all releases should allow this but it is quite fiddly to do. You'll be issued a serial on steam which will be able to register on our site. Its not used for anything no steam other than to register your game here.

Cheers

Is it only about registering here or will we actually also be able to download the real .exe files here?

Initially just register but maybe later download. The serial is also used if you want to get discounts for upgrading etc.

Generally no because there is a print run done at launch and unless we run out of stock we don't reprint. It tends to be cheaper to produce more than we need on Day 1 rather than small batches so we rarely run out! The cost per unit drops so dramatically as you increase volume you almost pay nothing for the additional stock. Print on demand would be nice but the quality is not as good (we've tried) and the cost would mean we'd have to double the boxed prices at least.

Hmm, I'm not sure I got the right thing here.

I received my WitE upgrade box today. Inside the box I see a printed manual and a DVD called "Catalog" (with the subtitle "Physical Upgrade"), which I don't really know what to do with it.

Where is the game DVD?

reading above it looks like it doesn't come with a game disk[red text above]. I believe all the game disks come with is a setup file and maybe a DVD cover with the game title. Is the manual worth it? I've been considering it.

This is an upgrade option for people who already own the digital game

so there is no game DVD in the box, as it's not needed

Well, I expected to receive a complete box with the manual AND an up-to-date game DVD with no serial nor key. This is what I call a "box game edition".

But it's true, the info given by Matrix is just talking about a box and a manual. I made a mistake ordering it and I don't find it is worth it.
