Bummer...

------------------------
NORPAC/WC
------------------------

Well, only thing that flew was a P39 squadron sweeping from Vancouver. Nothing from any of the WC bases flew. I won´t complain though as the P39s did phenomenal. Very small CAP up...had the B17s flown...[:@]
Afternoon Air attack on Coal Harbour , at 204,49

Weather in hex: Moderate rain

Raid spotted at 43 NM, estimated altitude 23,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 12 minutes

Allied aircraft
P-39D Airacobra x 25

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 6 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
P-39D Airacobra: 2 destroyed

The KB strat bombs Portland!! Thats why he has been sitting there for so long...I had AA units there but stupidly forgot to get them off strat mode... Very little damage though. 88 Fires still burning.
Morning Air attack on Portland , at 213,56

Weather in hex: Moderate rain

Raid detected at 117 NM, estimated altitude 12,000 feet.

B5N2 Kate: 8 damaged
B5N2 Kate: 1 destroyed by flak

Manpower hits 1
Fires 264

------------------------
China

Supply is now in the red in every unit outside the Chungking basin...some have 0. [8|]

Off topic.

You who live in Europe has probably seen a certain picture from a refugee disaster in the Med last night. I hadn´t looked at the picture but did so tonight. That picture hit me hard. Really, really, really hard.

Consider giving something will you guys. Its only money.

Update will have to wait until tomorrow. Can´t bring myself to update right now.

Well, good results but not good enough.

------------------------
NORPAC/WC
------------------------

Strangely enough the CAP was still pretty weak on the 19th. The P40s hit first and did okay considering the pilots are very green.
Morning Air attack on Coal Harbour , at 204,49

Weather in hex: Severe storms

Raid spotted at 44 NM, estimated altitude 25,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 15 minutes

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 23

Allied aircraft
P-40E Warhawk x 24

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 3 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
P-40E Warhawk: 4 destroyed

This was followed by the P38s. Sadly I lost one on the return home.
Morning Air attack on Coal Harbour , at 204,49

Weather in hex: Severe storms

Raid detected at 43 NM, estimated altitude 21,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 9 minutes

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 12

Allied aircraft
P-38E Lightning x 17

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 2 destroyed

Weather was bad which of course effected the results. The usual fragmentation occurred with 2 bigger raids followed by a gazillion fragments. CAP was already worn out though so it didn´t matter. This is the first strike. We hit A LOT of planes on the ground (overstack?) but very few runway hits.
Morning Air attack on Coal Harbour , at 204,49

Weather in hex: Severe storms

Raid spotted at 20 NM, estimated altitude 10,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 6 minutes

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 1

Allied aircraft
B-17E Fortress x 15

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 1 damaged
B5N1 Kate: 3 destroyed on ground
H6K4 Mavis: 1 destroyed on ground
G3M2 Nell: 1 destroyed on ground

Allied aircraft losses
B-17E Fortress: 5 damaged

Runway is hardly scratched and I seriously doubt I managed to close it. Jeff continues to hit Portland.
Afternoon Air attack on Portland , at 213,56

Weather in hex: Clear sky

Raid detected at 67 NM, estimated altitude 9,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 26 minutes

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 8
G3M2 Nell x 4

Japanese aircraft losses
G3M2 Nell: 2 damaged

Manpower hits 12
Fires 1073

Still no damage.

I think the raid shook him up a bit though. Nothing flew on the 20th and the KB moved in to provide CAP. No point in trying again as long as KB is there. Once it leaves though...with some luck I can continue to pin the KB in NORPAC for quite some time.

China

Another attack on the Ankang road.
Ground combat at 83,45 (near Nanyang)

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 31755 troops, 320 guns, 212 vehicles, Assault Value = 973

Defending force 30600 troops, 200 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 616

Japanese adjusted assault: 535

Allied adjusted defense: 1768

Japanese assault odds: 1 to 3

Combat modifiers
Defender: terrain(+)
Attacker:

Japanese ground losses:
759 casualties reported
Squads: 2 destroyed, 96 disabled
Non Combat: 1 destroyed, 16 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 5 disabled
Vehicles lost 16 (2 destroyed, 14 disabled)

Allied ground losses:
1303 casualties reported
Squads: 5 destroyed, 131 disabled
Non Combat: 1 destroyed, 16 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 3 disabled
Guns lost 17 (2 destroyed, 15 disabled)

Looks like I managed to get some supply there in the nick of time. Jeff has also started pushing up from the south capturing some bases down there. I´ll get a map up later today.

Elsewhere its quiet.

Well done on those results, I'd say. Whodathunkit? P-39s sweeping Zeros with a 3:1 shoot-down rate.

Cheers,
CC

Highest wins. Jeff had his CAP under my sweeps. He learned quickly though and the next day it was up at 20k. Still happy with getting a 1:1 at this stage though! [:)]

I´m starting to wonder if I have been mistaken in my belief considering SOPAC. Spent a while in Intel Monkey today going through various locations and Japanese combat units.

-Nothing is prepping for Pago Pago, Noumea, Koumac, Nadi or Penryhn Island.
-"Bogus" units are prepping for Suva. These are all Kwantung Brigades.
-Nothing in prepping for anything on OZ or NZ besides Perth.
-There is very little activity in SOPAC at all. Jeff took Ndeni with a small unit but have not expanded the base. Only Japanese presence since the SCTF around Koumac 2 weeks ago are subs.

Japanese are now committing to both India and NORPAC. They have made very little progress in China so far (although that will change soon as supply is gone) and still have Luzon and Darwin on the "must take list". With the thrust into NORPAC/Canada I don´t think Jeff has enough to threaten SOPAC. At least not for now. And very soon the Amphib bonus will be gone slowing him down considerably.
Dont underestimate the ability of the JFB to land troops wiyh minimal prep if he thinks the base thinly defended. His ability to splatter SOPAC with SNLF type units could cause pain, at least in the short term.
Also, with PH in his hands, he should be able to reasonably guess your LOC across the Pacific and try to put a blocking force and air units.

Good advice.

I have reinforced key locations to secure my LOC although obviously its impossible for me to cover every island. But Suva, Noumea, Pago Pago, Hiva Oa, Tahiti, Penhryn Island and Vavau are garrisoned. The first 3 quite heavily with early 42 standards. For those he will need divisions I think.

First strategic bombing points of the war...

------------------------
NORPAC/WC
------------------------

Jeff hits Bremerton Naval yard and scores 54 VPs in return. I have to let him for now. Don´t have AA to cover it and I can´t cover every target.

KB remains at Coal Harbor but the AF reaches 3. Will he start moving again?

Another third of the 48th are landed at Anette. Second attack drops the forts to 2.

------------------------
India
------------------------

More units prepping for Calcutta. Only smaller units like Engineers RGTs and other support units. Comilla now has 4 enemy units.

------------------------
China
------------------------

A miracle on the Ankang road. [X(]
Ground combat at 83,45 (near Nanyang)

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 31137 troops, 321 guns, 214 vehicles, Assault Value = 896

Defending force 29751 troops, 196 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 515

Japanese adjusted assault: 198

Allied adjusted defense: 2161

Japanese assault odds: 1 to 10

Combat modifiers
Defender: terrain(+)
Attacker:

Japanese ground losses:
2359 casualties reported
Squads: 5 destroyed, 120 disabled
Non Combat: 1 destroyed, 44 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 17 disabled
Vehicles lost 32 (3 destroyed, 29 disabled)

Allied ground losses:
693 casualties reported
Squads: 2 destroyed, 29 disabled
Non Combat: 4 destroyed, 13 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 3 disabled
Guns lost 5 (5 destroyed, 0 disabled)

I need more dice rolls like this....

Up in the North I messed up. Wasn´t really paying attention here and Jeff flanked me. 300 AV was cut off. So this means the siege of Lanchow will begin in 2 weeks or so. Level 3 forts, x3 terrain and 980 AV defending. It will be tough for him. Especially supply.

Jeff flips turns like Tom sometimes. [:D]

------------------------
NORPAC/WC
------------------------

After bombing Bremerton things quiet down. KB remains on station. I had to stop the NavS in the area after loosing 2 months worth of CAT replacements in just a couple of days. So I´m pretty much blind here now. Easy to track KB though through the subs and their DL.

Any day here not strat bombing is a good day.

Japanese capture Annette Island and make their first attack on Kodiak. It will fall shortly.

------------------------
China
------------------------

Quiet after the Ankang road "miracle". Jeff is moving in the south with armor. He will soon reach my next roadblock. Screen coming up.

------------------------
OZ/SOPAC
------------------------

Japanese land at Wyndham. This is good as it will take some time for him to move to Darwin. Not sure why he didn´t land straight at Darwin as its pretty much empty. But everything that buys time is positive. [:)]

------------------------
India
------------------------

Jeff is walking deeper into the trap. He is being way too offensive here I think. He is basically just moving in blind as he hasn´t even reconned anything besides Calcutta. There are 9 units at Chittagong but only 4400 troops. I´m guessing they are engineers and BFs.

By moving forward this far south I´m exposing myself a little. Its a calculated risk though. The Allied fleet is assembled in the IO and covering the flank. In 7 days the 70th British ID arrives which is a full ID in DBB. Its a fantastic ID with 80/80 EXP/MRL. Some of it arrives disabled though but it will anchor up the defense at Calcutta until recovered.

The 26th Indian ID also arrives shortly. It arrives with a full TOE but slightly disabled and only 30 EXP/MRL. Still enough to bolster any defense where needed. I´ll keep this one in central India in strat mode.

This is a good chance as I will get this early to hit back.

Sorry for the lack of updates. Jeff has been busy this weekend so no turns. Got the replay yesterday but nothing exciting enough to warrant an update without seeing the turn file.

In the USA today is the last day of summer, Labor Day. Many/most public schools start tomorrow and in MN the leaves have permission to bolt.
