Captured Units and Replacements?

Post by Sheytan »

How is it handled? I asked this before, do the units simply not get replacements? Or do they?

Why not? If a body of men can use a cannon why cant replacements be added to the unit? This has existed since ACW. I am disappointed this still is the case.

From what I have seen the only units that can be captured are artillery batteries and supply wagons. And in my experience (20 game years as the Imperialists) they function just like one of your own units, receiving replacements just like your normal units do. Hope this helps!

Yes capture of men rather than hardware seems to be rare.

Arty and supply need men as well of course, but it seems that nationality is ignored for them (or am I missing something?). Which makes sense, you could pick up any old farmer to drive a supply wagon.

Does captured arty always have low experience? It would make sense as a way to abstract replacement of crews.

I believe that captured units retain the experience level that they had before capture. All the artillery I captured was inexperienced, recently purchased I assume. And the supply wagons, well, it doesn't really matter with them, does it...
