Staging missions through Port Moresby

In the real world USAAF based units on the east coast of Australia and staged them through
Port Moresby to refuel and then attack Rabaul.

Is there any way to simulate this in WitPAE short of transferring units to PM and building
up the airfield there?

Nope. Not modeled in the game.

You can stage planes to there and then give them a mission, but they will return to PM and not the original base they started at.

I have also found that if the stage is long distance and adds significant pilot fatigue the squad will be less likely to fly the mission assigned that day.

This is unfortunate because staging was a widely used tactic until Port Moresby was built up.
