Development Thread #04-3D Graphic icons

Post by Warhorse »

Hello all, in the next coming weeks, I will be trying to highlight some of the major changes to the "3D" graphics world of Middle East. Our goal was to have unique icons to each platoon, no more of the sharing of a certain vehicle for many units, I hated that! Also, trying to incorporate proper colors and or camo where possible, I was sick of the shapeless lumps resembling vehicles/infantry/weapons that has haunted the previous Divided Ground game. I have spent a lot of time upgrading and creating many new vehicles, as close to resembling the true vehicle as is possible in the game, and ensuring that infantry and weapons graphics are colred properly, and not just brown or tan lumps of...something!

Anyhow, stay tuned, as soon as we are able to post larger screenies, I will highlight some of the more exciting editions! For instance, there are now the Gillois Amphibious Tank Carriers, all the different halftrack types, and M113 types of vehicles. Libya now has a proper looking M53/59 Praga SPAAMG vehicle as well. Most sport camo and/or at least different country-specific colors on everything.

More later!

Well, got carried away with making the icons, and now we are so close to release already! My apologies on not posting more on the 3d aspect, fortunately others of the group have given you a taste!

Here is a shot from the scenario, Into the jaws of Shlomo. Elements of the Egyptian 113th Mechanized Brigade move on the approaches to Mitla Pass! T-55's and BTR-50 APC's in camo finery move out.

Here is another, this time a scene from my Syrian Tank Battalion Linked Campaign game. Through the Valley of Tears. Syrians have made some crossings over anti-tank obstacles, and advance into IDF objectives!

My favorite is the M577 Command Vehicle. It wasn't there in the beginning, but I asked and bam it appeared. WOO HOO!!!

Thank you for the pics, i allways like the 3D area in Campaigns series but find it a little... small, i dont talk about add 1 zoom level more, i refer that vehicles and infantry sometimes look small... i dont know if is possible add an option like in old CM to scale the 3D units, even increase them a 25% sure help a lot.

PD: 1 week [X(]
