Adding text to map?

Post by Vanman »

Greetings all! I have been enthusiastically adding mods to my WIF map which have greatly improved its appearance. I am wondering if it is possible to add text, representing cities (not actually adding true cities). For example, if I wanted to add 'Vyazma' somewhere in between Smolensk and Moscow, how would I go about doing that? Thanks.

It isn't difficult to do. You would add a new entry to the end of the NAM file. Currently there are 3754 entries in that file and it can have up to 4000.

However, the details for each entry are a bit difficult to understand. They are documented in the Player Manual volume 2, page 195 in the Labels section. You would put in zero values for the icons and have to determine exactly where (i.e., which pixels) in each hex the name would start.
