Last Minute Torch Request/Questions

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

Last Minute Torch Request/Questions

Post by AnonK2 »

Hey Folks,

I collected some easy to fix mistakes to improve the generic German data. Will be good for the incoming dlc and the grand campaign too. Only minor spelling things and missing leader pictures, but it would greatly improve immersion.

Units
00087) Witthoft Corps = Witthoeft Corps (see General Name)
00088)Kubler Corps = Kuebler Corps (see General Name)
Unit 00435) + 05921) Fuhrer Grenadier Panzergrenadier Brigade = Fuehrer Panzergrenadier Brigade
00436) Fuhrer Begleit Panzergrenadier Brigade = Fuehrer Begleit Panzergrenadier Brigade
01086) 818th Gebirgs Pioneer Battalion = 818th Mountain Pioneer Battalion
01581) Neinhagen Heimat Mixed Flak Battalion = Nienhagen Heimat Mixed Flak Battalion
05547) Grossdeutchland Panzer Corps = Grossdeutschland Panzer Corps
05563) Juterborg Panzer Division = Jueterborg Panzer Division
05565) Muncheberg Panzer Division = Muencheberg Panzer Division
05603) Barwalde Infantry Division = Baerwalde Infantry Division
05606) Koslin Infantry Division = Koeslin Infantry Division
06018) 1st Croat. Jager Infantry Regiment = 1st Croat. Jaeger Infantry Regiment

Generals
0023) Busse, Theodore = Busse, Theodor https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theodor_Busse
0111) Kubler, Ludwig = Kuebler, Ludwig https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ludwig_Kubler
0339) von Kessel, Mortimer = missing picture http://ww2gravestone.com/people/kessel-mortimer-von/
0340) von Le Suire, Karl = missing picture http://ww2db.com/person_bio.php?person_id=806

I am especially looking forward to the upcoming fictional scenario. Some questions/proposals:

If the Fuehrer is dead - will the SS Division be converted into the Heer and serve as additional regular divisions? (or even disarmed - like Stauffenberg and his supporters tried https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/20_July_plot)

If the Fuehrer is dead - this will change the fate of FM Rommel an other Generals greatly. Some could stay longer ingame until the end of the war.

Cheers! I am looking foward to the release and would be very happy if you please could include the fixed until release.

Changing names at this stage is full of danger as we use them to control the AI.

I thought long and hard about the SS but left them in although Fuhrer Grenadier and Fuhrer Begleit have changed to Gardes Uhlan and Gardes du Corps PzG Bde.

What am I missing; you don't refer to the units by ID, like 00087 instead of 'Witthoeft Corps' (to use AnonK2 post):
00087) Witthoft Corps = Witthoeft Corps (see General Name)

No, internal AI code deals with names, not ID numbers, so changing names impacts the AI.

Awesome! Thats great news, thx for having an open heart for community proposals Omat.

Would be great, if more and more unit/corps/army insignia could be included too.
They add a lot of immersion. Looking forward to the Torch air insignias too.

As I understood you took most Wehrmacht pictures out here:
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Insi ... _Wehrmacht

When doing the conversion, sometimes parts that should be white are kind of blue/grey?.
Looks strange and it would be great if you pls could fix this.
3rd SS Panzer Division = Skull is colored strange in blue at the back instead of white

329th Infantry Division = strange blue color inside

Here links to the missing pictures of three Panzer Divisions:
