My experience in AA wasn't too bad. I'm taking a break now though because our server got merged. So after spending a lot of time building up a nice big area of land, I'd have to start that land hunt all over again and I'm just not too keen on that. Maybe one of these days I'll get back to it, but in the meantime I have more time to get this AAR back in shape!

Blenheim's and Wellington's hit Dacca at night again and do pretty well, torching 7 each of our Nicks and Tojos as well as a couple Topsys and Anns.
During the day, 24x P-40E Warhawks sweep Dacca. We have 23x Tojo and 14x Nick up to meet them. Our Tojos do okay, but the Nicks get the bounce and do a nice job bringing down 4 of the P-40E's for no losses of our own.
In an effort to cut of the British and Indian division from returning to India, our tanks make a river crossing into Rangpur. The defenders, having been bombed well by our Nells, are unable to resist our tank regiment and we capture the base. Not sure how long we can hold it, but we will do our best to isolate the enemy. If we can manage to destroy the UK division that will be a big help to the offensive against Calcutta. Getting the Indian division will be a nice bonus too.
And to help our supply situation in the area, the Yokosuka 3rd SNLF airdrops into Patna and captures the unoccupied town. We probably won't be able to hold forever, but the extra 20 supplies a day from the light industry here will help.

Far to the north in China, we launch an assault at Urumchi and finally capture the base with 3:1 results. We capture all the facilities intact (50 Oil wells, 20 refineries, and 20 Light Industry). Not sure how well stuff will flow out of here, but maybe some if it will. We will continue on Kashgar and then this theater (far northern China) will be done.
In western China, two of our infantry regiments cross the river into Paoshan where the Burma refugees have taken up shelter. A pair of Chinese divisions are enough to put a halt to our chase, but we do get across the river and should be able to hold against any counter attack while we rest up.

In the daylight, four sweeps of 10x Mohawk IV, 13x Hurricane IIb, 24x P-40E and 14x P-40E respectively, come in over the airbase. Our Nicks and Tojos do what they can, but overall the Allies come out ahead. We lose 12 Tojos and 7 Nicks in A2A and Ops, while the enemy only loses 9 Hurricanes, 1 Mohawk and 1 P-40E. Not too bad given how much we were outnumbered. We have more Tojos and Nick on the way soon though, so hopefully we can turn this around before the Brits start upgrading airfields in the area.
Anns bombing Silchar spot the 26th Indian and 70th British division there, and it does appear they are trying to escape to the north. The map below shows where they will likely try to move (yellow arrows) as well as the route I am trying to move to cut them off. Really need to isolate and destroy those two divisions. We will continue bombing them to try and slow their movement as much as possible.

Air combat continues over Dacca today. In the night, Blenheim IV, Wellington and B-25C Mitchell bombers attack in multiple small waves. We have some Nicks on night CAP and the first several waves are disrupted and score no hits. The last wave of 6 Wellingtons does well though and takes out a lot of planes: 4 Oscars, 5 Nicks, 4 Topsy, 1 Tojo and 2 Anns. The Nicks in the air take out a Wellington and a Blenheim IV at least.
In the daytime, three separate sweeps come in. The first is 16x Kittyhawk I and our Oscars and Tojos bring down 12 of these. Next are 15x P-40E Warhawks and then a final afternoon sweep of 19x P-40E Warhawks. Our Army fighters do pretty well against the Warhawks as well, bringing down 10 of the enemy planes. In all we lose 7 Oscars and 3 Tojos. Thankfully, we only lose 2 pilots today. Fighting over friendly territory probably helps with that.
Our Nells bomb the 75th IAC Regiment near Rangpur and destroy about 10 vehicles.

We try an attack at the crossroads between Chungking and Kienko, but surprisingly only get 1:2 odds. So the attempted flanking maneuver now becomes an exercise in retreat. Our one open hexside to the southwest is now blocked by some units that came out of Chungking. We'll need to open a hexside before enough reinforcements arrive to defeat our troops. Thankfully supply and experienced troops are not something the Chinese have in abundance, but it will still be a close run thing.
Near Kweilin, the last unit is knocked back off the road so our troops will march on Kweilin once again.

Ketoi-jima expands airfield to size 2
Carrier Akagi goes into port at Tokyo to have some AA guns added to the ship for extra defense. I plan to rotate carriers through their upgrades so that a strong force is always present in the Pacific.

Some enemy destroyers are encountered near Canton Island, maybe they are on a fast transport supply run. In any case, they sink a pair of E class ships as well as a DMS. We manage one minor hit on DD Farragut but otherwise are dominated completely. I might be able to get some carrier air in place to catch them, but those destroyers can move pretty fast so it is unlikely we will catch them.

They get a 1:1 result, but with any luck they will be in even worse shape if they try again since supplies should be even lower on their next attack. They are attacking with a negative supply modifier already.

We hit the 70th British Division again in the clear near Silchar. Also of note is that our troops are well across the river to the north now, and our main force of four divisions should arrive at Asansol in the next few days. Asansol itself is valuable due to the massive, high quality coal deposits in the area, but also from that position we may be able to cross over and capture Jamshedpur and then encircle Calcutta from the north.
Southwest of Darjeeling, our 14th Tank Regiment attacks an unsupported 21st Indian Mountain Gun Regiment and sends the unit running to Darjeeling, less a half dozen guns and some troops.

We try hitting Diamond Harbour at night with some Helens, but don't accomplish anything.
In the daylight, the Allies attack Chittagong in force today. Several waves of fighters and bombers attack. We have a light CAP of Tojo's up which take down some of the enemy planes. Total enemy planes include:
16x Mohawk IV
36x P-40E Warhawk
15x Kittyhawk I
14x Hurricane IIb Trop
12x B-25C Mitchell
16x Wellington
27x Blenheim IV
The most Tojos we have up at anytime is 16, but they do quite well bringing down 3x P-40E, 3x Mohawk, 2x Blenheim IV, 2x Hurricanes, 1x Kittyhawk. We lose 2 Tojos and our AA brings down a further 1 Blenheim IV. All the enemy attacks are port attacks, but they don't do too much damage thankfully.
Elsewhere in theater, our tanks cross the river into Tezpur and find the 26th Indian Division has also arrived. A good omen is that our lone tank unit manages to get 1:1 odds against 8,000 enemy troops. Plus we don't lose a single tank, and we take out 672 enemy troops. The race is still on though and we will continue to try and slow down the 70th British and 26th Indian. I doubt our tank unit will be able to compete against the much higher XP British division.

Farther north, we swap a tank unit for the 35th/C Division and bounce the Chinese out of the woods southwest of Urumchi. Our tanks will resume the journey, hopefully the Chinese units have been retreated enough that they won't be able to resist the tanks. The clearer terrain will help us too.
We try an attack at Kiuchan since it has been a while, but only get 1:2 odds. No casualties for us at least.
The Chinese try to attack us as we retreat again, this time a shock attack. They get 1:1 odds and take heavy casualties. The Chinese did not have a supply modifier and we did, so hopefully they are disrupted or fatigued or just not very good.

We try hitting Diamond Harbour at night with some Helens, but don't accomplish anything.
In the daylight, the Allies attack Chittagong in force today. Several waves of fighters and bombers attack. We have a light CAP of Tojo's up which take down some of the enemy planes. Total enemy planes include:

14x Hurricane IIb Trop
12x B-25C Mitchell
16x Wellington
27x Blenheim IV
The most Tojos we have up at anytime is 16, but they do quite well bringing down 3x P-40E, 3x Mohawk, 2x Blenheim IV, 2x Hurricanes, 1x Kittyhawk. We lose 2 Tojos and our AA brings down a further 1 Blenheim IV. All the enemy attacks are port attacks, but they don't do too much damage thankfully.
Elsewhere in theater, our tanks cross the river into Tezpur and find the 26th Indian Division has also arrived. A good omen is that our lone tank unit manages to get 1:1 odds against 8,000 enemy troops. Plus we don't lose a single tank, and we take out 672 enemy troops. The race is still on though and we will continue to try and slow down the 70th British and 26th Indian. I doubt our tank unit will be able to compete against the much higher XP British division.

Some Wellingtons and Warhawks go for Chittagong, other Wellingtons and Kittyhawks go after the crack 48th Division which is marching into Jessore, and everything else hit our main force at Asansol. Oscars and Tojo provided limit CAP over the 48th Div and Chittagong. We lose an Oscar and four Tojos, but manage to take down five P-40E and one Kittyhawk. Unfortunately we lose four pilots as well, probably from flying wide ranging CAP missions.
At Tezpur, the Allies bombard, but no sign of the 70th British Division yet, so we gain yet another precious day to set our roadblock.
The best news of the day is that our main force finds Asansol largely undefended and we take the base easily causing the garrison Base Force unit to surrender. Even better news is that the base facilities are only lightly damaged. We won't repair any, but we managed to capture 594 resource centers, and 99 Heavy industry. We might run short of fuel for now, but once we secure Ledo I think these factories will run every turn. Don't know how much of these resources we'll get home, but any supply we can get is like gold.

Diamond Harbor has night CAP of P-40E Warhawks so our Helens don't hit anything tonight. We also hit the 26th Indian Div at Tezpur during the day. Lots of Allied air attacks at Asansol, but our casualties are surprisingly light. I may put some CAP there one of these days to surprise the Brits.
At Tezpur, the enemy bombards and we can see the 70th British division has arrived. I imagine they will attack tomorrow and force our tank unit out so they can try to escape north.
At Darjeeling, our unit that we hope will close the way out for the British and Indians, the 21st Ind Mixed Brigade, crosses the river and attacks but only gets a 1:2 result. We will rest a bit and try another shock attack soon. I need this unit freed up to block the roads our of Tezpur, so there is no time to waste.
Meanwhile, the other prong of our Calcutta attack, the 48th Division attacks at Jessore and gets a 1:1 result against an equal number of enemies. The 48th has 95 experience though, so I think we can win this one with a couple more attacks given that most of the units at Jessore at Indian. The Kowloon brigade is here, I think it was at Kong Kong early in the war.

Up north on the road to Kashgar our single tank regiment succeeds in forcing back the four Chinese units by itself. With that in hand, this armor unit will go to Kashgar, another will garrison Urumchi and we will send our 1/3 of an infantry division back south to rejoin the war in China proper. Once Kashgar is captured, this armored unit will go back to Korea since it is an element of the 3rd Armor division which arrives in about 7 months or so.
Near Chungking the Chinese try yet another shock attack and get 1:1. Casualties are 1,500 for us, 4,100 for them, hopefully we can get away.

The multiple waves come in longer than our CAP can last, but we do manage to take out 5 Kittyhawks, 5 Hudson IIIa, 4 Blenheim IV, and 1 Hurricane. The Nicks do exceptionally well on the bombers. In total we lose 3 Oscars and 1 Tojo. A good day for sure.

The 48th Division attacks again and apparently the Indians ran for Calcutta. We still catch the 19th Indian division though and force it to retreat with heavy casualties, including 78 lost vehicles. The 48th will park here for a bit will we see what developes up north at Jameshedpur. We capture another 17 resource centers here as well.

We continue bombing the 26th Indian and 70th British at Tezpur, today we send in some Nells as well. Southeast of Tezpur, our 7th Tank Regiment attacks the 150th RAC Regiment but only gets 1:2 results.
At Silchar, the 5th Division joins the 56th/A and attacks. They get a 1:1 result and drop forts to level 1. We should be able to capture this soon in spite of the lousy terrain.

It seems our CAP at Asansol made it too hot for the Allied bombers. Today we see Wellingtons on night bombing at Dacca with no hits. Meanwhile, all Allied fighters in the area fly sweep over Asansol. Thankfully we stayed home - every now and then we make the right call.
Rolling the dice, we shock attack again at Darjeeling and get lucky taking the base with a 2:1 result. The two enemy units retreat in different directions - the 21st Indian artillery retreats southeast into the pocket we are trying to close, while the 1st Patiala Lancer retreat northwest towards the safety of he Indian fields. Most importantly, the 21st Bge can move southwest to block the road until the cavalry comes.

For the last day or two, Wirraways and Hudsons have been harassing our tank regiment that is attempting to cut off Katherine from the south. So today we load up fuel tanks and send some Nicks and our old first run, Ki-44 (not IIa) Tojos on LRCAP over the armor. It is a good day as the Wirraways come in with bombs at low altitude and the Hudson come by with no escort. We chew them up pretty well, killing ten Hudsons and three Wirraways - everything then sent so our tanks are not bothered. We lose a Tojo to ops, but given how long these frames have been in action I can't complain. We still have six of them flying. All the Nicks make it home.
On the ground, our tanks attack and find the 2/9th Armoured Regiment in move mode. We kill 13 tanks and lose 10 with 1:2 results. Once the enemy gets into combat mode I suspect they may be able to push us back. This is all a distraction though, since the 21st Division is sneaking along farther south towards Daly Waters for the real cut off attempt.

Whew - another month posted. I'll hopefully have the July summary up tomorrow or the next day and then I can start cranking through August. I have some theater shots from August 7th/8th, so hopefully those will help make it a bit clearer what is going on in Australia and India. Current game time is Oct 1, so now I'm only two months behind here in the AAR. As you can see I'm doing my best to get it caught up in short order.

July 1942 Summary
July's big news is our first real set back with the ugly aborted landing at Canton Island. Elsewhere though, the war moves slower, but in the right direction. Another relatively quiet month as sea. CA Exeter drops off the sunk list and is replaced by CA Portland, but I doubt Portland is sunk having only been hit by one submarine torpedo. CL Dauntless is also added to the kill list. BB Royal Sovereign is still missing from the list, but I'm pretty sure it was sunk. Also we see a slight decline in VP ratio this month, but I think that will reverse in the near future once we capture more India and Chinese bases.
Burma is finished up and our troops begin the occasional attacks at Paoshan. In India a lively campaign moves our forces up to Darjeeling and over to Asansol and Jessore - right at the doorsteps of Calcutta. Our push forward creates a triangular pocket of bases from Silchar up to Rangpur and over to Ledo. Some of our small units are trying to further cut that pocket in half again. The 65th Bge is also marching through the jungle to the Imphal roadway. The main goal is to trap and destroy the 70th British and 26th Indian divisions. With the divisional losses the Commonwealth has suffered at Ceylon, killing two more divisions should help prolong the Indian counterattack even longer. We also capture some supply producing areas, notably Asansol. Large amounts of resources are now building up at Chittagong, so we will try to bring some to Singapore for shipment on the Fusan Express.
In China progress is slow, but there is some. A risky maneuver near Chungking takes the pressure off of Chengtu, and although our troops are nearly surrounded, we manage to pull off a retreat over the river. We are finally about to attack Kweilin for the umpteenth time, hopefully the last time. In the north, we clear the last resistance at Urumchi and are marching on to take Kashgar. We will retake Kiuchan on our way back to the main front.
Very little action in the Pacific outside of the landing at Canton Island. After that debacle, we settle for keeping it isolated as best we can. The small islands east of Tonga are captured and that is as far as we plan to venture in the Pacific. For now it is submarine warfare near Pearl Harbor while keeping an eye on the Society Island, New Zealand and eastern Australia for any Allied counter offensives.
The Australian adventure goes fine as we capture Wyndham and get into position around Daly Waters and Katherine to capture those bases while we wait for the 33rd Division to arrive for a push on Darwin. Some air skirmishes are fought and we win some and lose some.

Submarine Scoreboard July 1942[/center]
Home Island stockpiles are shown below. Supplies climb slightly again, and fuel is near flat. Oil drops, but much slower than before. Looking ahead, these numbers all start to climb notably in September as we start pulling oil and fuel from Fusan. Supplies also start to climb at a good rate. Resources are climbing very fast as you can see. I did a significant amount of Light Industry expansion on the main home island, so we will put those resources to good use producing supply later in the war when we are isolated.

Burma is finished up and our troops begin the occasional attacks at Paoshan. In India a lively campaign moves our forces up to Darjeeling and over to Asansol and Jessore - right at the doorsteps of Calcutta. Our push forward creates a triangular pocket of bases from Silchar up to Rangpur and over to Ledo. Some of our small units are trying to further cut that pocket in half again. The 65th Bge is also marching through the jungle to the Imphal roadway. The main goal is to trap and destroy the 70th British and 26th Indian divisions. With the divisional losses the Commonwealth has suffered at Ceylon, killing two more divisions should help prolong the Indian counterattack even longer. We also capture some supply producing areas, notably Asansol. Large amounts of resources are now building up at Chittagong, so we will try to bring some to Singapore for shipment on the Fusan Express.
In China progress is slow, but there is some. A risky maneuver near Chungking takes the pressure off of Chengtu, and although our troops are nearly surrounded, we manage to pull off a retreat over the river. We are finally about to attack Kweilin for the umpteenth time, hopefully the last time. In the north, we clear the last resistance at Urumchi and are marching on to take Kashgar. We will retake Kiuchan on our way back to the main front.

WEllington's hit Dacca at night, but no hits are scored. We hit the 26th Indian and 70th British at Tezpur with Nells, Salls and some Anns.
We try another attack at Silchar and get 1:2, but take forts to 0. Enemy is showing negatives for prep, fatigue and experience so hopefully we can take this one soon as well.
Our tanks try again on the 150th RAC Reg near Tezpur, but no casaulties on either side and we get a 1:5 result.

Our tanks attack the 2/9th Armoured Reg near Katherine again and we get 1:1 results (22 vs 22 AV), but we take out twice as many vehicles as we lose. Maybe we can win this fight. They are down to 46 vehicles, while we still have 65.
On the road to Katherine, right before the river, our 18th Tank regiment catches up to the Wyndham base force and attacks getting a 41:1 result, but eh BF doesn't retreat.
China
Given the Chinese dropdownat Chengtu, we have built up enough supplies to try an attack. We only get 1:2 results, but the Chinese show negative modifiers from experience and supply so we might be able to wear them down.
