Suggestion for additional filters on Active Ships screen

Post by Theages »

Since Michael has again graciously taken up the task to eliminate issues [&o], maybe it is time for a feature request, that hopefully should not be too difficult to implement.

Is it possible to add the following filters (toggles) on the active ships screen?
damaged / undamaged / all
in port / in TF / all

This could ease the search for certain ship types available to create new TF.

This could speed up the repair management, since accessing a damaged ship from this screen and setting it to pierside repair moves you back to the top of the list (sorted eg. by system damage), when closing the individual ship screen. Then you have to scroll down all the way of the list, that you already checked before, to find the next ship, that can be repaired in port.

The toggle to show ships due upgrade used to be quite useful to isolate just those ships due an upgrade in current or previous months.

When the cursor rollover was introduced that could show ship upgrade dates, the toggle in the ships list changed to show any ship with a past or future upgrade, no matter how far off. That killed the usefulness of the toggle.

Using the cursor to find the ships is somewhat painful for me because of repetitive stress injury from moving and clicking the mouse constantly, and my eyes are not as good as they once were. Scrolling down long lists with the mouse is just not friendly for this particular user! [:(]

If it is a difficult fix, I will live with the current setup, but if it can be tweaked, I will cheer loudly!

I am using 1123x10 (same as latest official) and I use that toggle all the time. Are you saying the toggle was killed off in the latest Beta? It's not in the change log:

20/09/2015: 1125
Air attacks against TF with many small craft improved as game tended to go after only one of them.
City attack target selection assumed max TF speed of CV for target selection. Changed to use cruise TF speed.
Correct hex control value if hexside is not truly 'blocked'
Fix off-map TF moving on-map without correct setting. Resulted in TF move direct to on-map hex
Fix rare case where the highest TF# was not allowed to form new TFs when alone in hex
26/09/2015:
Fix case where surrounded units disappearing without VPs
Fix surrounded units having disabled devices doubled each time checked (and then above bug kicked in)
02/10/2015:
Fix case where leading TF going off map resets destination of following ones

witpqs, I am using the last official release, not a beta. All I know is that when I want a list of ships that can be upgraded in the current month, I get a list that includes every ship that can upgrade at any current or future date. Rolling the cursor down the list is the only way to figure out which ones are actually eligible to upgrade. I am not interested in the ones that will upgrade a month or more from now.

BBfanboy,

Looking at Michael's screen pic, right-click/left-click on "This month" to cycle forwards and backwards through:
• All upgrades
• Overdue
• This month
• Next month
• >=2 months
I went from memory so that might be slightly off.

Click on "Allowed to upgrade" to toggle between that and "Not allowed to upgrade".

Using those two filters is immensely helpful.

Thanks for pointing that out - I checked and my version is V1.06.1108.R9, which I thought was the last official version. I remember doing an update a little over a year ago which I thought was the last one, and everything I took note of since were Betas that I was not yet ready to try out. Sorry for the confusion - we old guys are good at that!
