Tutorial elite x elite war

Post by delete1 »

Once in a while I still enjoy to play the tutorial scenario. It is a nice little battle. Last attempt was an elite x elite clash trial. I only changed the training for all the units to 10. Very fun, I might try bigger battles in a elite x elite context...managed a Tactical success with the soviets. I did bleed a bit, but finally managed to remove those pesky brits from Nordheim. :) I even managed to send Townsend back home in a coffin...

What is your trick here as the Soviets? I've tried, against the IA, the central, north and south routes, and got my a** kicked everytime. I'm playing it now a PBEM++ trying the north route and just got my whole 3 companies of T-80B1 destroyed in 10 minutes.

I use the Assault order as the manual states to use it when heavy oposition expected, but then my units use little cover and I do not know if that is what is giving the Brits a field day against my units.

The scenario is not balanced (Nor is it meant to be). Generally, Soviet success as of 2.0.11 relies on heavy usage of Artillery. However you're not given much artillery, and what artillery you do have is little match for the superb counter-battery options (off-map M109s [:@]) that NATO has. As for this scenario, just try to get close, and get in cover quickly. Tanks lead the way so the infantry can secure the objective. Once they're dug in, Motor-Rifle Companies lay waste to the opposition.
