Magnus?

AH, forgot, no British players competing at the top levels of the chess comunity [;)]
Magnus Carlsen that would be. He won the (do not know the english term) semi-fast world cup yesterday making him the first player ever to defend that title. Today and tomorrow is ultra-fast world cup (tied at first after ten matches so far) (he is the current champion here as well, so looking to defend this title as well).
He is also the first player ever to hold all three titles simultaniously.

Ahh Chess. I remember Nigel Short back in the 80's.

The only other Grandmaster I know is this guy. Was he a chess player? [;)]
