Logistics - Unloading in Ports

Post by rickier65 »

I'm playing the intro Husky scenario with version 1.01. I've been following the threads in the main forum concerning logistics started by Rongor and thought I had a handle on how the port capacity worked with Naval transport. I'm also going through the manual albeit somewhat slowly.

In turn 1 I conducted the amphibious assault and moved my land forces close to the invasions beaches using naval transport.

On turn 2, I started moving naval transports into Licata and unloading the troops. Licata shows a port capacity of 30. As i start unloading, this doesn't decrease.

I unloaded the 9th Inf Div ( 7.4 ), 2nd Arm'd ( 24.6 ), 2nd Corp HQ ( 11.5 ) and Provisional Corp HQ ( 5.8 ), and two RR repair units ( 6.1 and 5.8). and Licata was still showing a capacity of 30.

I had the same behavior at Noto with the British units, with Noto also not decreasing, though I didn't unload as many units.

I'm attaching a zip file with a save at end of Turn 1 as well as the Auto save for T2 for the western allies and a save after the T2 allied air phase.

THanks
Rick

Invasion Beachheads do not use up capacity when you use them. Instead, freight takes attrition depending on weather.

The temporary port will remain as long as you have a Naval TF adjacent to it.

This is working as designed.

Thanks - good to know - I think I must have missed that in the manual, or haven't gotten that far. Ah, I just reread the one page Guide #3. "...no cost .. at temporary ports".

Thanks!
