Re: the tank division - CRB is a decent base to ship from in the first place, so I see no reason to send it to Canton to ship somewhere. Looks to me like it is arriving in Canton and only a chunk of it has so far unloaded.

Another uneventful turn. Too tired for an update so here is a picture of a cat.

Isn't that all of us who are not morning people, before we have had our jolt of coffee? Kinda sleepy and not ready to smile yet?

When I signed on with the wife, cats were part of the deal. We have two, one upstairs, one downstairs. They eat meals together, then retire to their
respective nap areas. I think they are the masters of relaxation.

.... a rare moment

That is a good point! If Jeff is indeed committing unrestricted units in China that would be a huge Allied victory!

That cat looks happy in comparison how I look at five in the morning when the kids just woke me up! [:D]

Ankang road
______________________________________________________________________________

My roadblock finally crumbles with a massive bang. Losses are big.
Ground combat at 83,44 (near Ankang)

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 40265 troops, 489 guns, 77 vehicles, Assault Value = 1020

Defending force 39620 troops, 217 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 422

Japanese adjusted assault: 817

Allied adjusted defense: 184

Japanese assault odds: 4 to 1

Combat modifiers
Defender: terrain(+), leaders(+), leaders(-), disruption(-)
fatigue(-), experience(-), supply(-)

Attacker:

Japanese ground losses:
319 casualties reported
Squads: 2 destroyed, 11 disabled
Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 4 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 2 disabled

Allied ground losses:
15052 casualties reported
Squads: 532 destroyed, 37 disabled
Non Combat: 612 destroyed, 5 disabled
Engineers: 15 destroyed, 12 disabled
Guns lost 25 (14 destroyed, 11 disabled)
Units retreated 5

This would´t be much of a disaster if it wasn´t for the fact that they for once retreated in the direction you would expect...my next roadblock is now overstacked by 40.000. I can´t move the overstacking units out since they are disorganized. I now fear that the overstacking will cause my roadblock to crumble instantly once the Japanese arrive. Same thing that happened in my game with Tom although this is smaller in scale. [:(]

Can't you predict the retreat path? Doesn't it have something to do with supply pathways?

Not really. You have to sacrifice a pet while singing a ukulele based theme song while standing on one foot juggling 21 silver forks in order to predict the retreat path. [:'(]

CVL Shoho is moving to Pearl Harbor (180,107).

Now this is interesting....Assuming Shoho is part of MKB?

Maybe work schedules restricting reporting, but the effort against Alaska/WC seems to have stalled.

Disorganized units can move. You just can't set mode other than disorganized.

Never have watched closely to see how slowly they are moving, but they do move.

Almost every game against the AI at least one of the units getting kicked out of Khota Bahru ends up disorganized.

I set all the survivors to move to the railhead and the disorganized unit always moves slower than the others until it recovers.

My Disorg units tend to move rather quickly...

I´m not opening the champagne just yet....but pretty much yes. He has gained less then 100 VPs in the last couple of weeks and losses far exceed that (from a VP perspective). Going by memory I think its less then 700 VPs in total comparing with Toms campaign in OZ which netted him almost 7000 (!) in April.

I think its a matter of bases. He has too few to operate from. And now with the KB gone he has lost his major sweep tool. Jeff is a good player though and he surely have something planned to try and compensate. MKB moving to Pearl is a pretty strong hint on what he is planning...anyone wanna dare a guess? [:)]

Gah, I wish I knew that before I ended the turn. [:)] Pretty amazing though I´ve played this game for so many years and still learn new stuff. [&o]

Very little happening over the last few days. In fact besides the events on the Ankang road there is nothing to report.

------------------------
NORPAC
------------------------

Bombings here have pretty much ceased lately. KB is gone and it looks like Jeff have pulled out most of the troops. I´ve started prepping units for targets in Alaska. Going by recon some bases are emptied? [&:]

Fleet is in hiding about a weeks sailing from the Alaskan gulf. Once I know where KB is I can start being more offensive here.

------------------------
CENTPAC
------------------------

Not really sure what to make of the MKB moving to PH? Any ideas?

------------------------
India
------------------------

Recon is still bad here despite 8 recon planes. Looks like Jeff has divided his forces into 2 thrusts. One going for Ledo and one possibly trying to flank Calcutta?

Ledo won´t be much of a problem for Jeff but Calcutta will. I´m trying to get more recon on the Calcutta thrust. All I see is "4 units". I´ll counterattack here if it looks doable. Calcutta will soon reach level 7 forts and now has 3500 AV. Ledo has 500 AV behind level 3 forts. Only x2 terrain but a rivercrossing.

------------------------
SOPAC
------------------------

The Japanese CA force leaves PM for unknown destination. Possibly to bombard Townsville again. The 50 Betties at PM makes me reluctant to try intervene.

I have a hunch Jeff will come for SOPAC in a couple of weeks. Probably bringing everything he had a NORPAC. I can´t stop that so I won´t reinforce my forward positions. It will be costly for him though I hope. Most places have 100-200 good AVs behind level 4-5 forts. Most have CD guns, mines and AA.

A rare event...

I think you are right about SoPac - too many VPs in the key bases for the Japanese to ignore, so he is hoping to grab them quickly before the scales begin to tip.

As for MKB to PH, I expect he is concentrating all his carriers and will set up a typical trap - dangle MKB as bait for your CVs while KB sits a few hexes back. You are already aware of this trick so I do not expect it to work here.

EDIT: PS - nice hit on that LSD, but one hit won't sink it and it is at Naha where there is a drydock. At least it is out of play for a few weeks.

Weekend finally arrives and finally got my laptop updated. New tower (old one died last weekend and too old to repair the hard drive) will have to wait until Cyber Monday (Monday after Thanksgiving here in USA) to get new one. Since many players visit Jocke's AAR, I'm asking for feedback on what they would recommend for new tower? I know I will need to go from Vista to Windows 10, but any models to look at will help. As side note, hope to get my stock version of AE on my laptop up to BTS lite and back to game playing.

LCU retreat path - my understanding is the units will head in direction that is easiest to travel and towards a friendly base. I've had units already marching in different direction follow these two general rules change direction.

Without a doubt you should get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811160008

Its the one I have been using for the last 6 or so years. I can fit one of the kids in there if I wanted! [:D] It has a great layout with several clever solutions. Best tower I have ever owned.

I hope we are both right. My focus isn´t in SOPAC and even with all its VPs it won´t be enough for AV unless I lose something major. [:)]
