First, I have to admit a mistake, The Okiniwa express is DF-11's successor, DF-16, DF-11 can only go around 600-700km, only able to reach Korea.

Second, DF's are mobile, now they usually conduct live fire exercise in Xinjiang or Tibet, it is expected they could be launched from any position in PRC, except SSC islands.

Again, source on that range for the DF-15? Missilethreat.com and APA both call it at a ~700km range. While they theoretically have the range to reach SK and Vietnam, we know that's not where they're deployed. China has almost all of it's SRBMs placed near Taiwan. Source, Page 7

DF-15 can go around 700km, I do not know how far newer DF-15 variants can go. The successor of DF-11 is DF-16, capable of reaching Okiniwa. DF-15's successor? I do not know.

And about your sourse. Yes, they are stationed in place near the strait, just like US CVNs are stationed in San Diego, but they do not stay there. They go everywhere. Go pick up a copy of PLA daliy or see some pic on 81.cn, they are trained to launch from different locations.

I am working on a couple of Spratly Island scenarios right now...
Trying to get a balance of power is not easy if the U.S. can operate of the Philippine Islands. I have had to diplomatically isolate them for their to be a reasonably balanced scenario.

One of them attempts to get an MOB platform out of Dodge... [:)][;)]
few ways to reduce the operartion effectiveness of US air force in Philippines.

1. For quite a while, Chinese National Grid Corp. ran Philippine's national grid, now Philippines still using Chinese blueprints and equipments to maintain their power grid, do you think in an event of war, the US air bases in Philippines will have enough power?

2. About 85% of harbour machineries around the world are made in China, in event of war, they could be blow out to reduce efficiency to supply. And I do not think engineers would come to repair before war is finished.

3.get a few 022s to the SSC islands and launch land attack version of YJ-83s.

Or few 056s with 76mm deck guns as land bombardment. Missiles aren't cheap even for Chinese.
