I was beaten to it, but I'll re-emphasize: Team Yankee is a perfect fit for this game. As a matter of fact I'd love it if some enterprising lad put together a playable campaign based upon the book!

The best. Another one (which would be great fodder for an expansion of your game, Captain!!!) is Red Phoenix, by Larry Bond. An amazing telling of the SECOND Korean war, set in the 1980s.

Red Army

The book in it's entirety. Ralph's (excellent) book tells the tale of WW3 in 1987 entirely from the Soviet perspective, from it's highest ranking generals to it's lowest conscripts.
While RSR was largely in detail about cutting-edge technology, Red Army is almost the compelte opposite: It tells the human side of the war: Tanks, guns, and jets are only as good as their operators, and Ralph never gets more specific than the single instance of identifying an F-16. And indeed, like FPRS, it covers mostly NORTHAG [:D]

I was just thinking of Clancy's Red Storm Rising when I opened this thread. Hadn't read it in a few years so it may be time again. I wore out the first copy I had and had to buy a second one.

Absolutely. The best novel about that period. Period.

I just finished reading RSR for the first time, the romance plotline was a bit unnecessary but otherwise a great book indeed. I probably have to order Red Army right away.

Red Army has been on my "To read" list for too long. I am currently slogging through The Rise & Fall of the Third Reich... Red Army would make a good follow up!
