Swapping Stacks?

Post by Toko33 »

Is there a way to swap stacks?

Is it allowed to swap stacks or units within a stack?

In the picture, I want two stacks to trade places, both are at their stacking limits.
Both are in enemy ZOC.
It is the beginning of the impulse, land Movement step.

Can I trade the location of the 7-5 ARM stack with the 8-4 white print INF stack?

I cannot find a way to get that to work. It seems like in the last release I was able to get that to work.

According to RAW it is legal. Unfortunately, currently it is not implemented by MWiF. The problem is the MWiF does not allow temporary overstacks.

However, there is a workaround that allows you to switch units, but not the whole stack: For example, move the 7-5 to the southwest. Now move the 8-4 into the 7-5's original hex, and move the second corps in the 7-5's stack to the 8-4's hex. One can also switch the two divisions in the two hexes at this point. Now undo the 7-5's move.

This switches two of the three units in each stack. Unfortunately, I don't know of any way currently to switch all three. Sometimes one can not even do this, if for some reason (such as being flipped) one can't move the units one does not wish to switch. Even with these limitations, this workaround is far better than nothing.
I thought I knew how to play this game....
