Update 2.0.10 won't install

I have FCRS on two computers, one running on Windows XP and one on Windows 10. I downloaded and installed update 2.0.10 on the XP computer with no problems at all.
Instead, when I tried to install on the W 10 machine, after having downloaded it, I keep getting the following error message part way through the installation procedure, which then stops:
"Encountered a sharing violation when accessing C:\Matrix Games\Flashpoint Campaigns Red Storm\autorun.exe".
If I can't fix this I won't be able to install the Reforged add-on, which needs 2.0.10 to work.
Is there a fix, please? What's a sharing violation anyway? I have always installed Matrix Games and their updates on both of my computers. I buy the version with the DVD always.

Do you have the game menu open or running? Check your task list, it sounds like it doesn't want to overwrite it because it's being used. If all else fails, try a reboot to make sure it's closed on all accounts.

Erik, no, the game menu was shut down. I was simply installing from the downloaded file which I had saved in the game's folder. Nothing else was running.

Ginetto, try running the update as an admin. Right click on the update.exe and select the "run as admin" option. Let me know if that works or throws another error.

Once you have downloaded the file please unzip it. Run the extracted file to update the game.

Sometimes windows gets mixed up about which files are in use. Can you trey rebooting and before running the game try installing.

I deleted the previous download and unsuccessful exe files. I rebooted the computer. Finally I redownloaded, extracted and reinstalled as administrator.
It worked! Gott sei dank.
