Soviets

VR designs has been reinforced with designer Cameron Harris and the result is a revolutionary new operational war game 'Barbarossa' that plays like none other. It blends an advanced counter pushing engine with deep narrative, people management and in-depth semi-randomized decision systems.

Soviets

What exactly is going to keep a Soviet player interested in being kicked around for 5 months?

DC Case Blue was great because even early on the Soviets could mount some very powerful strikes and then they have the winter offensive coming.

Hi RCH,

A fair bit of thought and effort has gone into designing a play experience for the Soviets that overcomes exactly this.

As Stalin you have to be absolutely ruthless. There are a range of tools to enable you to exercise your power in interesting ways.

You've got a couple of troubleshooters that you can selectively move around from crisis to crisis and exercise a range of options.

The Soviets also have the potential to kick back hard during the winter.

Overall you've got the ability to throw a lot of spanners into the well oiled Blitzkrieg machine and yep, it's a fun, tense, experience.

It's also deliberately designed to be a very DIFFERENT experience to that of the German side.

You've got your back to the wall, armed with a rusty knife. You aren't going to b*ggerise around playing by gentlemen's rules.

Cheers,
Cameron

Mature (read: very experienced) war gamers relish fighting from a deficit to see if they can pull something off. I'm looking forward to playing both sides. I'm thinking this game will actually be tougher to play the Germans. If the Germans had taken Moscow, they would have had a chance vs USSR.

I want to play the Germans to beat the nasty commies.

Same here, I like playing either side. As long as the Victory Conditions give each side a roughly even chance.

And then, after besting the AI you can go on to beat me or another human....

I'll play the AI for about two seconds. Playing vs humans is the only way to war game.
