RE: Global War: Japanese Aggression
Turn 18. Jul/Aug 1942. Western Front.
In addition to transferring ground forces from east to west the "cold" war with the Soviets is also allowing the Germans to move fighters to west and contest allied strategic bombing raids. Luftwaffe fighters did have some success at stopping and even downing allied strategic bombers. However, the USA and CW have many more bombers than does Luftwaffe have in fighters. And when raids were, or could have been contested, the allies flew to targets within escort range of allied fighters.

Turn 18. Jul/Aug 1942. Italy. Western Med.
The axis also continue to build up their defenses in Italy.
The USA and CW have significant ground forces in this the Med, and in England too. The problem is that the allies don't have the amphibious capacity right now to force a major landing either here (in the Med against Italy) or in France.
In the Med, North Africa theater alone the allies have five HQ units (Wavel in Tripoli, Alexander in Malta, Gort in Gibratar, Clark in Bone (Algeria) and Ensenhower in Oran). Also, both allies have significant ground forces in both area. Both more HQ and land forces are needed in the Pacific now that the USA had established itself in the Japanese home islands.

With a "cold war" with Germany, the Soviets look to other opportunities. Increasing their oil for example.

Turn 19. Sep/Oct 1942. The Weather!
Despite the horribly weather this turn, the allies had a fairly good turn at sea especially in the Pacific. However, on land, the weather frustrate the allies to including slowing the USA down in Japan, hampering the Soviet invasions of Iraq and Persia and thwarting the CW amphibious invasion of Sardinia.
This turn lasted 7 impulses with the allies moving both first and last. The allies won the initiate on a re-roll.

RE: Global War: Japanese Aggression
Turn 19. Sep/Oct 1942. Failed Amphibious Invasion of Sardinia.
The allies had four impulses this turn. The weather in the Med for those four impulses was fine, rain, rain, fine. The allies took a naval on their first impulse with the intention of capturing an empty Cagiliary and thus Sardinia on their next impulse. However, rain in the Med on the two middle allied impulses not only stopped the CW from landing but allowed the Italians to reinforce Cagilary with two garrisons. When the weather finally did clear on the fourth allied impulse, the CW had no choice but to land away from Cagilary. They chose the adjacent hex, which contained a resource, with decent odds. However, the CW rolled poorly and lost both invading ground units. Sardinia was the CW "Dippe".

Turn 19. Sep/Oct 1942. Eastern Med.
The Italians sent a small raiding force into the Eastern Med in the hopes of sinking allied convoys and transports. However, the Italian RM was unsuccessful in their search on the impulse that they raided. After that, the CW brought in air power to reinforce the area.
Clark and his HQ unit is abroad the Queen Mary in Suez and is on his way to Japan. There's also an RN heavy cruiser docked with them and providing escort to the Pacific.
