Elegant Kills

Post by rosary »

What are the most elegant ways to kill in TOS?

Which have that magic touch?

Kicking to death for instance, has its pros and cons.

IMHO, there's just something wonderful about using NB's until the pilot dies. Just the beauty of a lifeless titan with a clean cockpit (well, depending on how clean the jock keeps it) and perfect armor is something to strive for.

Of course, there is always the head-shot sniping, esp. if you can pull it off with an AC4 or PG at long range.

Lately I've been experimenting with masses of missiles, so everything goes out at once and they just desinegrate, rather than fall apart piece by piece. *contemplates the beauty of a titan that lost every body part in a single shot from a LRM 12, after all the armor and nearly all of the internals were sanded off*

Just my opinion, though.

Especially, if you win the opponents titan and have no repair bills.

IMHO i think knocking the enemy titans onto their backs using ac 20's and then blowing out their ctorsos is an elegant way of making a kill

its clean, precise, and crippling even though the engine is usuaklly heavily armored (nothing a few well placed ac 20 shells won't fix)

that and the engine explodes sometimes if its in the ct adding to the view

EDIT: but then again i pefer to go with a reliable and (fairly) efficient way of disabling/killing nme titans

never use many salvaged titans anyway

We've all pounded our enemies into dust. But what types of kills are the most unusual. The ones you really don't see that often?

Almost forgot another very elegant kill method: Forced over-heat. Takes some beating first, to knock out the heat reg, but then again, if you do it right they explode anyway. And that's wonderful. You almost never get one of those.

Rip off one of his legs or the lower torso while he is crossing/jumping over acid or lava (-3m). And then wait.

Damage his gyro, then sit back and watch him batter his titan to pieces trying to stand up.
We sometimes catch a window
A glimpse of what's beyond
Was it just imagination
Stringing us along?
More things than are dreamed about
Unseen and unexplained
We suspend our disbelief
And we are entertained

I swear I saw this happen... but only once.

A titan exploded, forcing another titan out of the hex. But that titan also fell down an elevation level. Seemed like the guy would never stop taking damage:from the initial explosion, from the fall, from overheating, from secondard ammo explosions. I think his torso finally disintegrated, taking his engine as well. Maybe it was his heat regulator; I don't remember.

I swear, I thought there was a bug in the computer.

Maybe not elegant, per se... but certainly unique, in my experience.

(looks up from dusting the rows and rows and rows of heads upon his mantle)

Elegant? Wouldn't have the foggiest idea of what would constitute that.

Well, today the jock in my shiny new Hellhound design managed to rip off a head with a beautiful kung-fu kick. :D I wish I could do that in real life sometimes...

Blowing up the cockpit with meson guns is yet another fun way to kill. As is when your little recon titan saws into an engine of a bigger tos it ambushes.... it's usually suicide, but a great way to go.

There's something very magical when you manage to shoot a jumping titan so that it crashes head-on, either ripping the head off or killing the pilot inside.

Another very satisfying way to kill someone is.. to NOT have to shoot him at all! This usually requires lots of flamers or napalm missiles and requires a tight bunch of several titans as well. Start by overheating someone and make it explode, heating up everyone else. Heat up the next one until it explodes and so on. Fairly soon the whole group will explode in an uncontrollable chain reaction - even the ones that you haven't even shot at yet.

heres an idea (might seem kinda wierd but here goes) you push the nme titan into overheat followed by using gauss to kill the pilot and take off the head followed by using an engine explosion to knock anotehr titan into sumbmission and its engine explode while shooting off its head and so on and so forth followed by the grand finale of you taking off the last titans head using a chainsaw (this idea was not for anything more than a hypothetical "what if" as i am so well known for in school)

Rosary. Come now. Let's have a little bit of honesty here.

The thing that you live and die for in ToS or WS is droping someone into an acid hex and watching them fail their movement checks until it's too late :P

Of course that sort of thing does absoulutely nothing for me

Did I mention that Hetz heads were a dime a dozen? My wife threw them out. They were cluttering up the place. Its easy to get more. Though I will say usually his matches give his opponents a nice restful nap. Wasn't it Hetz that caused Prince Corrin to doze off?

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was young (well old) and stoopid then but we veterans should stick together and not air our dirty laundry in public. After all Rosary I'd Never Dream of telling anyone that I once took you out with a stock Ancient Mariner :p

Well that must be wrong because I never admit defeat.

And thank you for not telling anyone. It will be our little secret.
