Our group does not play with carpet bombing as its too powerful! When the US comes in...ouch!
Conflict with the unexpected: two qualities are indispensable; first, an intellect which, even in the midst of this obscurity, is not without some traces of inner light which lead to the truth; second, the courage to follow this faint light. KvC

Same here. It's far to powerfull once the Allies start using their strategic bombers this way. In reality, both the USSR and the Wallies did use their bombers once for this before an attack. The ground forces which had to attack in to the area's thus bombed, were not making a lot of progress, because of the extensive damage done to the terrain, which favoured the defender a lot. After that, the use of strategic bombers for these kind of jobs was abandoned...
MWIF doesn't reflect this at all and IMHO the results table used (the STRAT bombing table) is far too optimistic where the number of losses are concerned.

Perhaps there should also be a bombing roll for a randomly selected adjacent hex containing friendly forces to represent the 'friendly fire' bombing incidents that occurred when the Allies used carpet bombing.

That kind of events made them to choose same colors of smokes for both army and air force in different situations. It was hard to avoid bombing friendly forces if air force have green smoke for target and army uses green smoke to show friendly forces...

S/O 40 Allies 7

The Allies look around at the pretty dismal weather across the globe and decide there isn't much of use they can accomplish. With a 30% chance to end the turn if all pass, they decide to go for it.

Turn ends on a 2.

No partisans.

US puts a marker in the Jap pool. US chooses lend-lease to China, which goes pretty well unnoticed (9 rolled). It also chooses lend-lease to Western Allies, which gets a bit more attention (8 rolled, 1 chit moved to tension pool). Status is Ge/It 6 in entry, 5 in tension. Jap 5 in entry, 1 in tension.

Thank you guys so much for taking the extra time to enter all of your game in this thread. It finally made me realize what more people need to know: this game is ready to play, over the Internet. This thread is what led to me the long posts in the "Want to buy" thread

N/D 40 Axis 1

No DoW

Germany and Japan land, Italy combined.

Italy sends 4 factor FTR to West Med box 2. Germany sends 6 factor FTR to West Med box 2.

Italian sub sails to Cape St. Vincent box 3.

Axis initiates combat in both sea areas.

Cape St. Vincent:

Axis 10, Allies 2.

AllenK is offline but I think he wants to sink my sub instead of just avoiding combat.

Allies use all their points to increase damage up to 2D A.

Italy is lucky and rolls a 10, sub is aborted back to Bordeaux.

Next is West Med.

Italy intercepts NAV to box 2.

Do CW want to fly planes?

West Med rolls: Axis 3, Allies 6. No combat.

Those French ships have sailed for moths without Axis being able to find them...

Germany rails AA gun to Stalino and 2x ENG to Novgorod area. Italy rails Turin MIL to Trieste.

Japan retreats. In Manchuria remaining 3 units are now in Port Arthur and they will stay or die there! (Doubled defence 28)

Germany declares attack against pocket in southern front and uses HQ support.

I believe USSR uses winterized units to get following odds? And I guess we go with assault?
