Allocating Artillery at Beginning of War?

Post by 76mm »

Hi, I'm starting turn 1 as German. I went to allocate my AGN artillery to an army, and found that it will take 4 days to take effect.

I would have thought that I could have allocated my artillery so that it would be used at the beginning of the war, but there does not seem to be any ability to assign cards during the Pre-Game turn (and it takes four days if you assign it on Turn 1).

Am I missing something here about assigning arty?

First turn's artillery use is calculated into the general bonus the Germans receive on Turn 1(well, rather, the penalties the Soviets receive, but still).

Hi 76mm,

As Tamas mentioned you receive a very big initial Blitzkrieg bonus (50%) which acts as a penalty to all Soviet Units.

This doesn't come out of thin air and your Theatre Artillery and specialised Bn's are all heavily engaged in the first days of the campaign contributing to the bonus.

You can give them assignments on the first actual campaign turn but because of the above, and the transit time required to catch up with units, they won't be available until the second turn.

Cheers,
Cameron
