If you were asking me the question, Jim - I downloaded it direct. The game updater was too slow. But when I try the game updater now it says I already have the latest version (despite the version showing as 2.0.10)

Templar, are you using the Matrix version or Steam? Most of use doing the "b" update are getting the 2.0.10 exe. You are seeing 2.0.10b in the main menu?

Hi,
FWIW I'm still showing 2.0.10 as well even after using the matrix version ftp updater. Like phoenix and others the in game updater now tells me that I have the latest version.
What a mess!![X(]
Keep trying guys!
Rob.

RE: Can't play PBEM++
Guy's I'm working with JW and Floyd in another thread to resolve there ongoing issues and posted a proper 2.0.10b exe at the link below to test out. This is the exe that should have deployed with the update. Can you download and unzip the exe over the one you have in your main game folder. NOTE: This is for the Matrix version of the game only! Steam appears to be updating correctly. Let us know 1) If you see the 2.0.10b in the main menu? and 2) Does it get the game working for you? We are working as fast as we can with Matrix and Slitherine to get this all worked out. The holiday weekend will slow this down a bit.

RE: Can't play PBEM++
Downloaded that, Jim and replaced my .exe with it. It works fine (though my original download worked fine too - that wasn't my issue - my only issue is not being able to get into PBEM++). Now it says version 10b within game, so success there. But I still get the same error when trying to get into PBEM++. The error I posted higher up in this thread.
For what it's worth I bought Decisive Campaigns: Barbarossa today and can get into the PBEM++ area no problem with that. So nothing to do with my computer, maybe.

Cancelled out and started again. This time got a message that I had to register a PBEM account (though I've already done that). Followed the instructions and got this variation:

RE: Can't play PBEM++
Phoenix - if you completely reinstalled then yes the new game will not know the details of your existing account until you type them in again. Are you still having this same problem right now? Was there a serial number in the serial number field or was it blank? We need to know a bit more of the context of what you were doing so that we can identify which of many different paths through the code you were following.
Thanks for your patience, cheers, Rob

RE: Can't play PBEM++
Still same prob, Rob, yes. Thanks for looking at it.
It happens like this:
1. I click on the PBEM++ button. I get blank fields in the top log-in area, where I would log in with my ID and password, and everything is greyed so I can't fill them in. So I have to go to the bottom 'register slitherine PBEM++' etc area. I go there and the serial number is already filled in for me, but nothing else. I fill in my user ID, the password (twice) and my email then click 'register' button. Then I get the message below:

2. So I start again. This time the top area is still all greyed out, but now I don't have to register - the 'register' button in the bottom area is greyed out. Instead the 'verify serial number' box is available. The serial number is still filled in and when I add my user ID, password (twice) and email, then click the 'verify' button, it tells me the number is registered to another user.
OR, sometimes, (3) I cancel out here and there (I lose track) and get as far, somehow, as it saying my serial number is valid (when I erase the serial number provided in the box, cancel out and start again, filling in the serial number myself, manually, I think...). Then I can fill in the top area, and try to log in, and then I get the incomplete message error that I started this thread with.
Hope this helps. As I said, with DC:B (the only other game I have, I think, using slitherine's PBEM++ system) I can get straight in no probs. So...puzzled...
Peter
PS: Can do a teamviewer session if you like and you can try it yourself?

RE: Can't play PBEM++
Phoenix - thank you for this very complete report! I will try it out and if I cannot reproduce it then I would love to do a quick TeamViewer session to see it in action. I will PM you in that case.
Thanks again, Rob C

RE: Can't play PBEM++
Got it! Working from your description I was able to find out that the proper password was *not* being passed by the route you followed and this was causing the 'not enough data transferred' issue. It is fixed for the 2.0.11 release.
Thanks again, Rob
