good game or not

Post by bo »

Over at slitherine there seems to be a lot of complaints about this game, we are still working on MWIF hmmmm! Looking for another game to play while we fix this monster of a game, is this game worth the money? I have all the Panzer corp games and this looks like an updated version in the Pacific theater, not being negative but please give me some pluses and minuses, thank you in advance.

Is the latest update inclusive of all other updates?

i was on the beta of this game, so maybe biased tbh, but imo it's one of the best games released this year, loads of maps, easy to learn but can be a challenge to master regarding unit choices, as there's plenty of them, the AI is very good, so if you like the updated maps, new and loads of units, some good campaigns and one of the best developer support, then it's highly recommended and is a step up for me from Panzer corps, some great mods out for it, editor is very good and easy to use, even done a few myself, just never released, but i still play it.

auto update always adds in the patches needed for me tbh, hope a few others join in and add some comments, then watch the twitch feed and read some AAR and plenty of vid's about on the game, either way merry Christmas and enjoy what ever you decide[&o]

I have the game, like it and if you like Panzer Corp type games go for it. This is better.

BUT

What is a bit worrisome after a recent update is when all the complaints started coming in. I've been concerned about updating waiting for clear word that they have resolved the problems. Now this is not the first game to have significant problems with an update. They usually get fixed with a patch later.

So the game and series has great promise.

Thank you zakblood, as you well know it has been hell over at MWIF, I have been a beta tester for 4 or more years and every time we think a breakthrough is coming we go backwards, not blaming anyone it is the nature of the beast, a very tough game to program because of its many rules, and as anyone who knows the board game the rules have to be perfect, well at least to some players. [;)]

Maybe I misunderstood, you are saying the last patch has all the previous patches in it.

I like the Panzer corp series, are you saying you have not updated from the original game yet or just the last update? I have watched the game on youtube and it looks good. One complaint I have seen is that once you have gone through the game it is the same game every time, are there any possible variations to change the nature of the game the 2nd time around?

Are you saying these programmers are dedicated to get this one right before moving on to another game, past experience of games tell me most of them do not support their game after a period of time.

Over at MWIF there is no more dedicated programmer than Steve and I believe he will always support the game as long as it takes, and beyond.

no, what i mean if you use the steam version as many do, come free with the game anyway, install it, and then let steam worry about it putting patches on, sit back and enjoy, if you don't use the steam version, then use the auto updater program and it will keep grabbing the latest and best update for you, so either way you won't have to worry what patch gets put on when[;)]

I updated my game each time with little problem until the Last update which I didn't do because of reading all the problems. Now they posted about a number of "hot-fixes" quick patch etc. but personally I'm always hesitant to use those and it's a pain to do.

What I'd like to see is a clear post from Slitherine or the Game developer that a new all inclusive patch is now available.

It's a great game with loads of potential new scenarios and additions to the series.
