Wargame Construction Set III: Age of Rifles

Post by HudsonGame »

Any chance Matrix might be able to redo Norm Koger's Wargame Construction Set III: Age of Rifles? I have been playing PC games since the early 1980s and I think Rifles is one of the best. I have always wanted to see this title redone, and Matrix normally does a great job.

Well, Panzer General has been redone in a very big way, we're now seeing Steel Panthers redone, so who knows?

BTW, I have been playing the hell out of AoR over the past few weeks using DosBox and a CD I purchased from eBay. And it's as enjoyable now as it was in the late 90s.

Matt,

I helped Norm playtest Rifles (I still have the Beta disc he sent me). Yes, I did get it to run a few years ago, but, the sound and all just was too clunky for my likes. One thing I asked Norm for back then was to be able to save your individual OBs so you could call them up later to fight a different foe. I requested this far too late in development, so, it was no go. lol. So I would like to see another tactical game like that set in the 19th century.

Oh, that's cool! In 1996, I was in fourth grade.

What we need instead of "remakes" is something "New". It's like the Russian front games there's a ton of em out there and people still cry for more. Never understood that. What we need are more normandy invasions and battles of the bulge. hehe[:D]

Personally, I'm waiting for someone to remake MULE. [:)]

I would like to try dosbox again. Do you have a good link on using the program and website for the games?

Thanks

I have to agree, a first class game I really miss. However, if memory serves, I would add some simple command and control rules.

I don't think so. Try Googling 'C64 emulator' and see what comes up.
I like those SSG and SSI games on my still working Atari 800.

No, you'll need a c64 emulator for c64 games. Kinda like dosbox for modern day pc's but not quite.

Goto this site http://www.ccs64.com/ for the emulator and

this site http://www.gamebase64.com/game.php?id=2435&d=18&h=0 for many of the games.

Thanks as, I tried it years ago but forgot. I loved the M1 Abrams tank SIM by Microprose.

It's a great way to play golden oldies like "War of the Lance" and "Centurion Defender of Rome".
