Find Debris Field

Post by jocan2008 »

Hello!

First off, im having a blast, really this game is as complex as you like or as casual as you want, but lately my explorer found a few derelict ships that needed repair but i forgot in what system, is there a way to find them back if i forgot where they were o.O?

The map tool is quite comprehensive but sadly i cannot highlight system with derelict ship wich makes it quite hard to find where they were if you forget and playing on massive amount of stars....

Did you go check it out at least once when it was discovered? If you did then the left and right arrow buttons just above your world screen will go back to it if you looked at least once.

The other way might be in your contruction yards screen, it might be listed as one of the starports there. Albeit needing repairs. Usually anything in your ownership that can produce military and civilian ships will show up there.

By derelict ships i mean neutral high end ship you can repair to capture them, my explorer did leave the system for a good time and swapping trough hundreds or systems might take a while..... I had no construction ship visiting these ship so i cannot use that to help me find and my explorer went on his merry way a long time ago, wich is now much longuer hehehe.

If there was an event associated with the ships that you found, then that event should be listed in the event log, which you can open by clicking on the button marked by an envelop symbol in the top middle portion of the screen, to the right of the area where the recent events show up. If you can find the event in the event log, you can hit the 'go to event location' button and it should bring you to wherever the ships were found.

If the derelicts were at a Strategic Reserve or Debris Field or similar, these locations will be named and the name will be visible in the main view as long as you're not zoomed too far out or in. Scroll the map around and look for the XYZ Strategic Reserve, ABC Debris Field, etc, and that's where the derelicts you're looking for are. Be warned that space monsters often inhabit such locations; you may want to send some warships to clear the area before you send in the construction ships.

The panel on the left edge of the screen has a button towards the bottom that should pull up a list of 'special locations;' debris fields, strategic reserves, and similar might be listed in here and if they are you could use that to find the location.

Otherwise, the only way I know of to find derelict ships easily is to zoom out a bit on the main map and look for gray triangles on the map. Those grey triangles are derelict warships. Long-range scanner coverage is required for the triangles to show up unless you have something (a ship, station, or colony; private sector freighters and mining ships count) in the same system as the derelict. If you're zoomed too far out, you may not be able to see the markers indicating the presence of the derelict ships.

A simple way to find the debris field you are talking about is click on the message tab, click the message for the discovery, and then at the bottom of the message screen click the button to go to the location.

Of course you could also just zoom out and move around the map until you find it.

Hope this helps....GP
