Total Victory Nov 41

Post by MrLongleg »

This is ,my second play through and it took me 4 days. I was totally immersed and great fun and at the end everybody including the Fuehrer thought I was great. Since the Fuehrer constantly changed his mind I decided to go after all the objectives. I played on normal difficulty with slow AI speed. In August 41 things looked grim, there was a giant wall of Russian troops in the center and I wasn't even close to Smolensk. Once I was able to break through I was able to create enormous pockets that broke the back of the Russian defense. After 2nd army finished of a giant pocket southwest of Valdai hills it had to march 500 km East without further resistance and dig in around Moscow to relieve 2nd Panzer group.

Map shows situation after victory end of November. There was not much organized resistance left.

Here is the strength chart, it went badly for the Russians after my Panzers were able to run free behind their back.

can you load up the game pdf file? as it's saved, and will show you what you did for the whole game and would be a great read, thanks and well played, now you need to reply on a harder difficulty and see if those supply issues really bite, as i can see you have some starting already, you have played better than anyone so far by a long long way[&o][&o]

congratulations ! It's very impressive. Did you have to halt some of your panzers from time to time ? (for fuel shortage or a need to rest them). Have you kept the blitzkireg posture all the time ?

Well done and please share your tips on how to do it. What were your general decision choices? How did you deal with refits? And logistics?

I will try to upload my game as the Sovs later this weekend. In November now and basically game is over, the Germans are totally shut down. Just need to grind out to February now but it's a done deal.

a pdf is made at the end of the game, and in it is all everyone needs to know and will be great to be seen on the forum tbh, as for me it's a great idea and well done to al that have completed it, now is your second chance to repeat the great feat and ramp up the difficulty and see truly great you are as a commander[&o]

In general I had most logistics problems in the early game. Then my offensive came to a halt for quite some time since I had to grind through massive defenses. That was more like WW1 trench warfare. But this way I was able to save up lots of fuel for my Panzers, so once they were free they were free for good - even when only relatively little supply cam through.

Regarding decisions, I refused to join the party and gave more weight to my field commanders. I always had a problem with the truck guy, which I later was able to fix by drawing from my superb relationship with the commanders.

I tried to upload the pdf, but it is too big. I'll try pasting the content...

How did you deal with refits? And logistics?

When my offensive came to a halt I used the time to rest and refit my panzer groups one after the others and let the infantry do the grinding through. When the defenses got weaker I added panzers and attacked the monster stacks of the Russians, which hopefully resulted in stacking penalties for the AI.

Regarding Logistics I tried to consider infrastructure when possible. But often that was not possible due to high cost in relationship or PP.
