Speedy's Q topic

Post by Speedysteve »

Hi All,

Have a few questions that I hope can be answered and there may be others in due course!

I skimmed through the e-manual and couldn't find answers on the first one.

1.) Once an enemy unit is surrounded does it feel the effects of isolation on the turn after the current one or immediately? What are those effects and is there any additional effect/benefit on destroying a surrounded unit as opposed to breaking one in open combat?

2.) Do damaged/broken down AFV's only return to Panzers when they're in refit mode?

Thanks

Hi Speedy,

Isolation effects start to kick in the turn after the unit is surrounded. They can be pretty severe. Only Soviet garrisons in cities are immune from the effects and units in coastal cities.

A refit will recover most broken down AFV's. There's a test - 85% chance for each.

Check the Panzergruppe tab down the bottom - tool tip summaries on the portraits - it'll tell you how many broken down vehicles there currently are.

Even in if there aren't many it may still be worthwhile doing in order to reset your 'refit' mileage as this is the main factor in determining the % chance of breakdowns.

Cheers,
Cameron

Thanks Cameron,

What are the severe effects of being isolated and does it mean that the whole unit is wiped out/captured when attacked and they lose?

ORIGINAL: Speedy

Thanks Cameron,

What are the severe effects of being isolated and does it mean that the whole unit is wiped out/captured when attacked and they lose?

Take note of the supply consumption statistic (fuel can) which is normally at 100. Once the unit has exhausted its organic supplies (when cut off) it will start to drop. When you start a turn with 0 organic supplies left (see details tab) your unit will have a value of 0 for supply consumption.

As a rule of thumb at low supply consumption values (<50) you can start to consider your units like lame ducks and at 0 they will be decimated by any enemy attack for sure.

Best wishes,
Vic
