We are in the final stages of assembling and vetting the impending Middle East 1.01 update patch. How impending? If all goes well, we hope to hand off ME 1.01 to Matrix/Slitherine by the original planned due date, Monday 11/30. If all goes even better, M/S should be releasing ME 1.01 to the public sometime in December, hopefully the sooner the better. M/S has a crowded release and update schedule ahead, so you never know how it will all shake out. Anyway, that's The Plan.

From a recent Dev Forum post:
ORIGINAL: Jason Petho

This is a new RELEASE CANDIDATE for the 1.01 UPDATE. This is JUST THE 1.01 UPDATE

...

This has a number of fixes, corrections and additions as found by us and customers. There is still more to come, but here is the latest go at fixing them.

...

1.01 UPDATE includes:

1. Numerous bug fixes from berto. Please see the Coder Notes section for details. There are many!
2. Improved graphics for Jordan and Syria from Mike and Paul
3. Revised Egyptian and Syrian OOB's. Egypt now has most 1973 Western Equipment (part of the peace deals) and a few updates to the Syrians based on comments from Al Sandrik
4. Some of Al Sandrik's scenarios were added as "Guest Designer"
5. Addition of Teaching Scenarios by me, presenting a very simple engagement that spans the decades.
6. Proper music!
7. Scenario tweaks based on responses/playtests.
8. Improved 2D graphics! (including the recent ones from Petri)
9. Improved 2D notations on the icons!
10. Improved reporting in Extreme FOW
11. Airmodel improvements and bug fixes.
12. Five mods in the mods folder for you to use that Petri has put together.
13. Desert Tree fixes
14. Scenario introduction into fixes
15. Scenario revisions to 1.01
16. New Scenario (Position 181), please playtest this as SIDE A against HAL, and provide some feedback. It's a frontal assault on a defended hill position, historical, 1967.
17. New Scenario (Typical Night Assault), please playtest this as SIDE A against HAL, and provide some feedback. It's a frontal assault on the defended Umm Katef position, historical, 1967.
18. New Autoscroll feature
19. Plethora of NEW FRENCH Infantry and vehicle graphics.
20. Modified front end buttons

...

I'm sure there are others that I don't recall off the top of my head.
Be sure also to read the Sneak Peeks, Coming Attractions, Works-In-Progress thread.

Lots of gaming goodness soon coming your way!

Sorry to say, 11th hour testing has revealed at least two nasty, show stopper bugs. They have been fixed, but this will delay the hand-off to M/S by at least a day, because the fixes also need to be tested, of course.

That's the bad news. The good news is that other members of the Dev Team have the extra day (at least) to polish their work, even to add new stuff, like this.

And so it goes. From our Dev Forum:

Stopping any current tests is strongly advised. Drop in place the newest 20151129a EXEs, and begin again.

(On one of your systems, take the time please to manually verify that the two show stopper bugs have indeed been fixed.)

Depending, their might be one or more additional EXE releases later today. Which would mean stopping any crash testing then too in progress, and restarting again.

Sorry, but c'est la vie.

Lock and Load. Automated testing to commence from the beginning, running through all scenarios in two sessions.

This time around, the complete set of scenarios each session, one with 2D, another one with 3D.

So far so good!

Since my last post I've had scripts running all scenarios over and over with some 300+ individual battles now successfully completed without any crashes. Of course, it is HAL vs HAL, so it might be limited in comparison to all things a human player would try out perhaps. Yet, very encouraging! [:)]

Well, the 1.01 UPDATE has gone Gold!

One more quick check tomorrow morning and it will be passed off to Matrix/Slitherine for processing and release. Give it a couple weeks and you should have it.

Latest automated crash test results here: 79 3D & 82 2D test scenarios completed thus far, no crashes. Out of a total (in my me.lst) of 85.

Between Petri [Crossroads] and me, in the latest round of ~500 automated test games, no freezes or crashes. Rock solid!

We have handed off ME 1.01 to Matrix/Slitherine. Vetted the installer too. Public release should come soon. It depends on M/S' schedule, however.
