HQ questions

Post by elmo3 »

How do you assign Army HQ's to OKH? I made an Army HQ and called it OKH but can't assign other Army HQ's to it. When I click on Set HQ the list that pops up is empty.

Edit - I would like to be able to make a Soviet Corps HQ type as well. Will that confuse the program if I do that so that divisions can be assigned to them and then they are subordinate to an Army HQ?

Edit - Similar problem with Commanders. The list is empty so I can't assign them to HQ's. Tried loading the Volkov officer libraries but there is a dependency error. Another tutorial needed or am I just not seeing the info to do it?

Hi Elmo,

Your problem is that I did minimal work on the libraries.

You are using my Volkov German Historical Unit Library.
I only made models for Corps (lowest) and Army (medium) there. I did not add any Armygroup (highest) or OKH (supreme) models to it.

The problem you run into is that you can only assign an medium level hq to a highest or supreme HQ. You cannot assign a HQ of a certain model to a HQ with the same or lower level of model.

The solution would be to either to only use Corps HQs as lowest. And one AGC as medium and no OKH at all. Or to make your own historical unit library. You could most easily do this by adapting the current one and just adding the models for the higher HQs.

-Bug warning: when you load the historical libraries in the intermediate editor they give a missing graphics error or 4, its annoying but of no consequence, just make sure to press yes instead of no, will be fixed next version -

-Made improvement in the CP editors for next version : will now show the model of a unit in the units tab of the simple editor-

Let me know how this goes. Happy to help you along and fix some issues at the same time.

best wishes,
Vic

I have the following HQ graphics problem. Checked all entries in the Historical Unit library and all HQ's have the value in field #27 set to True.

Hi Elmo,

Ah.. its a rendering issue. I never used HQs without shortname before. Added it to the to-do list.

You can work around it by giving them a shortname with at least 1 letter in it. Like '20A' instead of '20'

Simple Editor -> Units -> Change Counter

Or you can change your models library to have the model have for example 'A' as a shortname. Any instances you then create in the simple editor will automaticly get shortname '1A', '2A' etc..

Oh and Elmo,

I saw you added some extra portraits.

I strongly advise the following:
If you add graphics assets to your creations it would be ideal if you add them under the graphics directory in a seperate directory. like for example 'graphics/Korea/' or 'graphics/DanielsGraphics/.
