New player with a few questions

VR designs has been reinforced with designer Cameron Harris and the result is a revolutionary new operational war game 'Barbarossa' that plays like none other. It blends an advanced counter pushing engine with deep narrative, people management and in-depth semi-randomized decision systems.

New player with a few questions

Post by Sutefanu »

Hi guys!

I just got this game and I'm learning to play it. Most of my previous wargames have been beer and pretzel type of games.

I'm on the second turn of the german scenario and was wondering with all the stacked units on the map, is there a quick way of telling which units have enough action points left to perform an attack?

Also as I'm colorblind is there a colorblind mode? If not, could it be added in a patch?

I have been having real fun learning this game and can already say that it's very different from other games that I have played.

Click on the hex you want to attack and hit "A" to bring up the combat interface. Look to the far right and hit the "All" button. That will add all adjacent units that can attack. Note that you may not want to always attack with all units, but it will show you all that can attack. See the manual for the details.

Hi guys!
A very simple way to wander about... click on a unit you want to move, hit M. It's in the basic tutorials. But this isn't, it will show a red arrow after that unit moves that is still has enough APs to attack and from what direction and from what hex. This is a way to gauge without getting lost in details or APs cost to move to a particular hex and attack from that hex what you're doing. Simple interface... There is also a move button on the control panel in screen. This will make it mostly mouse interface if you want it to be... Which can be nice!

Hi Sutefanu,

What type of colour blind are you?

We are a bit limited in what we can do but if there's something specific (map especially) we might be able to address it.

Cheers,

Hi Lancer,

I'm having trouble seeing red, green and brown when they mix up.

For example the army group borderline which is red is hard for me to see.

Hi Stufefanu,

So any other colours other than those three would work?

Hi Lancer,

There is no problem with the map being green or brown, but when there are green or red colour on it, I have trouble seeing them.
Perhaps the best solution would be to allow colorblind players to change some of these colours to white, blue or yellow.
This would make some of the information easier to see.

How do you know which unit was assigned a Command Focus? Is there a symbol on unit (HQ) icon, reports, etc?

thanks

Hi tombo,

The Aide de Camp report that pops up at the start of the turn will let you know who has Command Focus. Also highlighted in the Daily Theatre Logs.

Visually you can see the Army or PG HQ on the map with a little action card icon on the HQ counter.

Cheers,
Cameron
