Crash on Startup

Post by tsnouffer »

Running CoH 1.39

When I launch I get the following:

Image

No help via the helpdesk yet so I thought I would post here to see if the community had any ideas. Can anyone decipher this gobbeldygook?

Thanks!

(I swear I spend more time installing/patching/troublewhooting this game than actually playing it [&:])

I get a similar thing, I'm running the demo not sure if that matters. Here's a screenie of a second box that opens for me:

I've tried with both Medium and Low resolutions and with all three game type options, same result.

Is there anything I can do? I have Win8 on a computer with an i5 processor and 8GB RAM (laptop), no dedicated graphics card.

Thanks,

Chris

I run CoH under Parallels using Windows 7. Matrix help desk tried to do something but didn't come up with much. I tried to reinstall Parallels Tools and after doing that it worked perfectly.

I don't know what that means, or it it's even possible for me since I'm using Windows 8?

Parallels is virtual machine software for Macs. Allows one to run Windows on Macs (opening up a lot of PC games for example).

If you a running a straight up Windows machine, my solution won't apply to you. Good luck!

Well, it appears that luck has nothing to do with it...

i just reinstalled and have the same error. Tried the updater, says there's a newer version but the updater don't work, freezes up.

I reinstalled Storms of steel as a stand alone, do i need the ATB patch? can't find a patch specifically for SOS.

Cheers

I have all 3 titles in this series...Conflict of Heroes, Ghost, and Steel.
Now the game crashes on startup. Same messages as in previous posts. I have installed the latest patch,(139) and still get the same error(s). Running Windows 7
Is Slitherine going to support these games? Or am I stuck with three useless titles???

Cheers
I have purchased 3 versions of Conflict of Heroes
Awakening the Bear
Storm of Steel
and Ghost Divisions

I have uninstalled and re-installed multiple times
These games used to work..
Now they no longer work on different machines and different OS
Windows 7 Windows 8.1 Windows 10

It is a shame it seems these games are no longer supported by Matrix.
See my attachment in the forums

BTW I have downloaded the latest patch... still NG

next, remember this is a clean pc, so never been or had the games installed on before, for you that have, it's simple, uninstall, and make sure all folders are removed then download ccleaner free from google and clean the pc of junk files, temp files and registry clean it, 100% safe and windows 10 cert...

re boot, then install ConflictofHeroes-SetupRelease-v110 Conflict of Heroes: Awakening the Bear! and all the pre requisite files, all 3, no matter what, all these are needed, if you don't, it won't work, full stop

then update to latest patch Conflict of Heroes 1.39

xnafx31_redist

dotnetfx35 redist

and then DXSETUP redist

as you can clearly see i have a few on the windows 10 pc already, as i test on it, so have more than most, all are needed for a mixed selection of games, the ones that come with this game, is what this game needs to work... don't forget to load them, or it will crash and fail[:-]

on this pc i have all version of Direct X from 8.1 to 12 installed

now install Conflict of Heroes: Ghost Divisions, do what it says, if asked to update pre requisite files again, then do it, as it only over writes, doesn't take up any more space and may or may not be different version, do it anyway, it takes seconds

now all installed, don't run the game, first update it again from the setup menu

Image

it will run once, find a file and update it self, then close down, it's normal as it's just installed a new installer, then will run itself again and find a new update Conflict of Heroes 1.39

yes the one you installed at the start, but now you also have to games installed later as well, so download / install the patch again, and after it's installed, your ready to rock and roll[&o][&o][&o]

good luck and happy hunting commander...

ps, if it doesn't work for you, then either your vga card or drivers isn't compatible with the game, that's not the games fault it's the drivers or chipset, i can't alter that or help much with it either, some will some won't...

Add the game to your anti virus safe list, and also add the game to your firewall rules if needed, plus as always run from a admin account with admin settings used, eg right click on the shortcut and select run as Admin
