saving games during pbem?

Post by npsergio »

Is it posible to save the turn during a pbem game? I launched one game yesterday, and when I pressed "game" button the only option was "resume game". There was no option to save game.

Any idea?
Thanks

no, the server saves the game, so it's not locally saved or stored

Ok, but...
How can I start play a turn, stop playing after some time, and continue later (or maybe other day)?

Do i miss something?

Thanks

You have to finish your turn. You can't save it in the middle of a turn. After you finish the turn the game of course uploads it to the server and only your opponent can access to play his turn. You can only play or resign a game when it is your turn. No mid-turn saves.

If you haven't finished a turn and/or the game and/or computer failed and could not upload your finished turn or locked up, you could play the turn again. A sort of start over. Careful though as that can be looked at suspiciously and viewed as cheating and done intentionally. You don't want a reputation of redoing turns that did not go as well as you would have liked. Not only do you get to move differently than you did the first time, but Battle computation being what it is will be different each time. So when you watch the battle sequence on the second, third etc. restart each will be different losses and results from the first one. Some games can monitor when a "restart" is done and even restrict you if done too often.

edit added: So suggestion is never start playing a turn unless you know you have the time to finish it.

Thank you for the answer. I would like to save mid turns because of my limited gaming time... That's all.

This is a pity... I like to spend some time looking into the stats, morale, details.

Also, maybe a battle where you manage 30.000 troops you're able to play your turn in a non-stop session... But, what about battles like Gettysburg, with 3 times that number? Maybe you'll need a whole day just to look at you troops morale, decide movements, orders, etc!

Haven't been an issue so far?
Some other games have a "continuous action" option to activate/deactivate the mid turn save. Can I suggest a similar option here?

Best regards
