Air Directives Not Retaining Specific Unit Assignments

Post by trhinz »

I have set up Turn 1 as the Allies in the 43-45 Campaign with Additional air HQs. I have 54 air directives and I am finding that when I run the turn several of the directives which I had selected specific squadrons or groups for have reverted back to auto assignment.

Does anyone have any idea what would cause this. (I did note some kind of error message flash by several saves back as I was working on setting the turn up, but hitting save again appeared to produce a normal save.)

I've seen such reports on development forum, but never got any saves to replicate it.

There were several issues when air groups and AD list was not matching. There is a script which is fixing air groups assignment. So it could empty air group list for AD, but only if air group is not assigned to AD anymore.

heh, I started to attempt the additional air HQs, and then realized it was too many for me to manage

I can manage the default air HQs well enough, tho I would like a couple more :) but not the 20+ that campaign has

On further study the problem appears to be occuring when you attempt to assign to a higher level HQ directive an air unit which is assigned to a lower level HQ.

Thus, for example, assigning units of 2nd, 83rd or 84th Groups to a 2nd Tactical directive, or units of XII Tactical Air Command to a Tactical Air Force directive, or units of 1st, 2nd or 3rd Bomb Divisions to an 8th AF directive seems to result in the program switching the assignment back to auto.
