Recon Bug?

Post by Harrybanana »

I am playing a solo game to, among other things, test the effectiveness of Recon. As you can see below I set up a Recon Air Directive for 8th Air Force to fly 8 Raids per day (56 raids total) of 12 Recon aircraft each over a 6 hex area. But the program only flew the first 11 raids and then stopped. I have tried this several times with the same result. Is this WAD? Who do I court martial for refusing to follow orders?

It is repeatable so I can send you the save if you, yet again, provide me with the email address.

Is that too much for such a small number of aircraft? The entire squadron -12- will fly for each raid?

Oops, I forgot to attach the screen shots. I will do so when I get home. For now suffice to say that there are I think 6 Recon Air Groups and 103 total recon aircraft flying this Air Directive. So asking them to fly 8 raids of 12 aircraft is only requiring them to fly 96 sorties per day, which is less than the number of aircraft available. So essentially each plane/pilot is flying about once per day. Well, more correctly is being ordered to fly once per day, but they have decided to just fly 1 1/2 days and take the rest of the week off.

I thought only 12 recon overall.

FYI, I don't fare any better when I set the Air Directive to High Intensity and let the AI choose the number of aircraft per raid and the number of strikes. It still refuses to Recon everyday as directed.

The only work around I have found so far is to change the number of Aircraft required to 48 and the number of strikes/raids per day to 2. then it will send 2 raids per day of 48 aircraft each for all 7 days. My recon levels are then 99 for each of the 6 hexes.

I think you may be using up mileage too quickly. Reduce the AD to only 1 Ac per sortie and see what happens.

I'd wish to see a save, otherwise I can only guess. In some cases this kind of behavior can be normal.

I've seen that behaviour myself where my recon will fly lots the first day, a little bit the second...then never again. I assumed it was because the computer considers that the recon level is high enough, so it doesn't have to fly anymore.

Perhaps, but my recon for some of the hexes I am reconning is far less than the 99 maximum.

You can zip them and attach to current thread. Alternatively send to 2by3@2by3games.com

Wasn't able to look at the save before vacation trip.

Recon AD is set to recon units only. When unit DL goes too high it won't run it again, but instead trying to switch to the terrain recon (interdict). However interdiction switch only goes up to some level, so it stops switching after some certain amount of strikes.

You can "fix" it by setting INTERDICT priority to LOW, so it will be driven by AD priority setting and not the auto switch feature.

Is 99 the max, I can get levels of 100.
