Press the attack?

Post by juntoalmar »

On RAC 11.5.9 Naval Air Combat, page 59 says: "For every remaining point in the total, 1 further air-to-sea factor does not press the attack."

What does "press the attack" mean?

Thanks!

It just means you don't apply the factor to the attack. FREX on a ground strike with a 5-factor Stuka, an AA unit achieves a result of '2' against it. So then on a roll of 1, 2 or 3 the target is disorganized, instead of on a roll of 1 through 5.

Thanks Paul. Actually this question popped up while doing an Air-to-Sea combat, in this case I assume the following:

- Bomber with 5 factors.
- AA achieves 2 bomb reduction.
- Bomber attacks only accounting 3 factors instead of 5.

Is that right?

Yes - if weather is fine. In Rain or Snow, the AA reduces the air factors and then the factors are halved for weather (and/or terrain if on land).
