Cargo trucks on Java

Post by Solaristics »

I just played the Java invasion scenario and decided, after the conquest of Batavia, to use a seaborne invasion of the objective airfield rather than grind overland.

While I took the airfield in good time, I couldn't find the cargo trucks anywhere. I managed to get 4/10 at the start, when going for Batavia, but only saw one after the seaborne invasion. Do they all leave the map? When do they start moving? I feel the game should end once it is impossible to achieve your primary objective: I wasted a lot of time conducting the amphibious invasion and hunting trucks when it looks like it was impossible to win.

It has been a long time since I played this, but I think the surviving trucks move to the SE area.
In this scenario it is important to hit the trucks from the very start using your air units and naval units when they are within range.

That is correct. I had the same problem. All the trucks retreated down to the southeast where - in my campaing scenario - the toughest battle was fought since I was about to run out of time without having destroyed 10 of the trucks. I poured into the valley from the northeast and northwest and it was one of the finest moments in the game.
